Chavez Jr. looked badly drained on Friday at the weigh-in, looking as if he had every ounce of water taken out of his body. In the past week, Chavez J. looked very heavy. Judging by how big he’s been looking, my guess is Chavez Jr. will scale well over 180lbs tonight for the Rubio fight.

Having to take off that kind of water weight in a short period of tie and then put it back on is incredibly hard on a fighter’s body and it wouldn’t be surprising if Chavez Jr. is weak tonight. It’s unclear what happened with his trainer Freddie Roach and strength trainer Alex Ariza to let Chavez Jr. come in so heavy.

You got to give them some credit as far as them helping Chavez Jr. boil down to make the 160 pound limit. You just hope that it won’t end up hurting the guy by him being too weight drained to fight tonight. Rubio looked very healthy at the weigh-in and it’s doubtful that he had to take off more than five pounds of weight.

Rubio is a professional and doesn’t let his body balloon up in weight between fights. Of course, it helps that Rubio is more of a junior middleweight fighting at middleweight compared to Chavez Jr., who is more of a cruiserweight who is good boiling down to 160 on fight nights. I can’t see Chavez Jr. making this weight too much longer without it finally catching up to him by him taking a beating by being too weak from dropping water weight days before the fight.
