By Dan Ambrose: By electing not to be weighed for the IBFs mandated weight check this morning, Danny Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) has tipped his hands in his game plan for tonight’s fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) on HBO pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden in New York. Jacobs said last Friday, “I’m willing to do whatever it takes to win. I’ve been dreaming of this since I put in the gloves at 15.”

Image: Golovkin vs. Jacobs: Will it go the distance?

By Gerardo Granados: This Saturday at the Madison Square Garden, New York, a solid boxing card awaits for all proud fight fans for the Gennady Golovkin vs. Daniel Jacobs card. In the undercard there’s former WBC super flyweight champion Carlos Cuadras facing David Carmona. “El Principe” Cuadras should do an easy job and look impressive defeating Carmona. We also have pound for pound King, Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez making his first defense of his WBC super flyweight title, against mandatory challenger experienced former WBC super flyweight champion Wisaksil Wangek. Against Cuadras, Chocolatito had to dig deep to earn the decision and on his first defense attempt of his title, we could see if moving up to his fourth division has really affected his punching power.

Image: Chavez Jr. will knockout Canelo says Carlos Cuadras

By Dan Ambrose: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs) will defeat Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) by knockout on May 6, says former WBC super flyweight champion Carlos Cuadras. He’s picking the 6’0” Chavez Jr. to win based on his size and power. Cuadras points out that Chavez Jr. has a powerful liver punch that he likes to throw to hurt his opponents. Cuadras thinks that Chavez Jr. will land that shot on Canelo. It would be a real shocker if Chavez Jr. is able to KO Canelo, because he’s the No.1 pay-per-view fighter in the U.S right now.

Chavez Jr. could KO Canelo says Cuadras

Image: Chavez Jr. could KO Canelo says Cuadras

By Dan Ambrose: Former WBC super flyweight champion Carlos Cuadras (35-1, 27 KOs) is giving Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs) the edge over Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) in their fight three months from now on May 6. Cuadras says that Chavez Jr. is the bigger fighter with more power and with a good chin. He sees that as being a problem for Canelo.

More and more people are starting to select Chavez Jr. as the one who will come out victorious in the fight against the 26-year-old Canelo. It’s not that they don’t see the Golden Boy Promotions star as a good fighter.

Carlos Cuadras focused on David Carmona

By Dan Ambrose: #1 WBC super flyweight contender Carlos Cuadras (35-1-1, 27 KOs) says he’s totally focused on his fight next month against #10 WBO, #14 WBC David Carmona rather than a rematch against Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez on March 18 on HBO pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The 28-year-old Cuadras lost his WBC super flyweight title to Roman Gonzalez on September 10 last year when he failed to stand his ground and fight the Nicaraguan in each round. Cuadras thought he could use brief flurries to win the fight rather than consistently fight Gonzalez for three minutes of each round.

By Dan Ambrose: The idea behind #1 WBC Carlos Cuadras and WBC super flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez both fighting on the same card on March 18 is that if they both win, they’ll face each other in a rematch.

Cuadras (35-1-1, 27 KOs) isn’t sure whether Gonzalez (46-0, 38 KOs) will fight him again, but he’s hoping he does. Cuadras will be fighting Mexican David Carmona (20-3-5, 8 KOs) in a 10 round fight on the undercard of the Gennady “GGG” Golovkin fight on HBO pay-per-view.

By Eric Baldwin: WBC World super flyweight champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (46-0, 38 KOs) will be defending his title against former WBC champion Carlos Cuadras (35-1-1, 27 KOs) in a rematch in March, according to World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaiman. This is great news for the fans, because the previous Gonzalez-Cuadras fight was an all-out brawl for 12 rounds.

Gonzalez, 29, defeated Cuadras by a 12 round unanimous decision on September 10 on HBO Championship Boxing in an exciting fight at the Forum in Inglewood, California. Despite suffering a lot of facial swelling at the hands of the younger, bigger and stronger Cuadras, Gonzalez was able to prevail in winning by the scores 115-113, 116-112 and 117-111.
