Prediction: Abraham and Froch will lose for the first time

Image: Prediction: Abraham and Froch will lose for the first timeBy Scott Gilfoid: The upcoming stage 2 Super Six matches between unbeaten Arthur Abraham (31-0, 25 KO’s vs. Andre Dirrell (18-1, 13 KO’s) and Carl Froch (26-0, 20 KO’s) vs. Mikkel Kessler (42-2, 32 KO’s) could see the end of the unbeaten records of Froch and Abraham. In fact, I’m dead certain that both Froch and Abraham will lose for the first time in one-sided losses. For Froch, he’s long overdue for his first loss of his career after winning a questionable 12 round decision while fighting at home in Nottingham, England, in the 1st fight of the Super Six tournament last October against the talented 26-year-old Dirrell.

Abraham-Dirrell: Look for Arthur to KO Andre

Image: Abraham-Dirrell: Look for Arthur to KO AndreBy Sam Gemmell: Arthur Abraham (31-0 (25) takes on Andre “the matrix” Dirrell (18-1 (13) on March 27th at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan.

Abraham looked good in knocking out Jermain Taylor in the 12th round in the 1st stage of the Super 6 World Boxing Classic on October 17th. I can’t say the same for Andre Dirrell, though. He looked awful against WBC Super Middleweight champion Carl Froch in his 12 round split decision defeat on October 17th last year.

Abraham will now fly back home to Berlin, Germany, and for two weeks before flying back later in March to face Dirrell on the 27th. Abraham has perhaps the toughest opponent of the entire Super Six tourney by facing the young, speedy Dirrell.

Super Six: How many shot fighters will the tourney produce?

Image: Super Six: How many shot fighters will the tourney produce?By William Mackay: After the first stage of Showtime’s Super Six tournament some boxing fans of the opinion that former middleweight champion Jermain Taylor is the first fighter that is technically shot in the tournament. Taylor was knocked out by the hard hitting Arthur Abraham in a 12th round stoppage loss in October. The knockout loss was particularly brutal to the point where Taylor pulled out of the tournament entirely.

Abraham-Dirrell: Will this be an easy fight for Andre?

Image: Abraham-Dirrell: Will this be an easy fight for Andre?By Scott Gilfoid: In looking over the stage 2 Super Six fight between Andre Dirrell (18-1, 13 KO’s) and former IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s), I see it as one-sided a fight as you can imagine. Abraham, 29, is about as slow as Dirrell’s last opponent WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch in terms of hand speed, but doesn’t have the height or reach that the 6’1” Froch had going for him against Dirrell. Not that it helped Froch any, because he rarely landed any clean punches in the fight other than when he was in close to Dirrell.
