Froch’s fight with Abraham could take place in November

Image: Froch’s fight with Abraham could take place in NovemberBy Scott Gilfoid: With his back injury keeping him out of action, former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) may not be able to fight Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s) until early November, according to boxing news from Livefight.com. Froch, 34, is experiencing a lot of pain with his back injury, saying “It’s sore and knotted.” That doesn’t sound too good, especially with Froch facing the biggest puncher in the Super Six tournament in the hard hitting Abraham next. Hopefully, Froch’s back can heal enough to where he can fight without being handicapped. But with back injuries, they rarely heal quickly. This could be the beginning of an ongoing problem for Froch.

Has The Ship Of The Super-Six Sunk?

Image: Has The Ship Of The Super-Six Sunk?By Joseph “The Mad Boxing Genius” Torres: When Showtime’s Super-Six tournament was first announced, it was more than just a tournament. It meant different things to different people.

For fighters like Andre Ward and Andre Dirrell, it was a chance to make a statement. They were no longer boys in a man’s game but men who are forces to be reckoned with. For men like Carl Froch and Arthur Abraham, it was their time for them to have all of the hard work they did in Europe to pay off in America. And then there was Mikkel Kessler and Jermain Taylor who wanted to re-establish themselves (after some heartbreaking losses) as the very best that boxing had to offer.

Froch suffers back injury, Oct 2nd bout with Abraham to be postponed

Image: Froch suffers back injury, Oct 2nd bout with Abraham to be postponedBy Scott Gilfoid: Former World Boxing Council (WBC) injured his back while training for his October 2nd Super Six tournament bout against the hard hitting Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s). This isn’t the kind of news that the Super Six and Showtime were looking for, as former WBC super middleweight and Super Six contestant Mikkel Kessler recently dropped out of the tourney complaining of an eye injury. And the September 25th scheduled Super Six tournament between Americans Andre Ward and Andre Dirrell still doesn’t have a venue for the fight and likely won’t go ahead on this date. Froch’s bad news was just one more thing that the tournament didn’t need.

Froch vs. Abraham: How can Carl keep from getting knocked out?

Image: Froch vs. Abraham: How can Carl keep from getting knocked out?By Scott Gilfoid: Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) is about to enter the Lion’s den when he gets in the ring with Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s) on October 2nd in their Super Six tournament fight at the Chapiteau de Fontvieille, Principauté de Monaco. A big portion of the tickets for the fight have already been scooped up by Abraham’s German and Armenian fans and Froch’s great idea for the fight to take place in a neutral venue is about to leap up and bite him on his backside when he likely finds himself with scarcely any crowd support.

Abraham plans on fighting smart against Froch on October 2nd

Image: Abraham plans on fighting smart against Froch on October 2ndBy Sean McDaniel: Former IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s) plans on fighting smart in his next Super six tournament fight against Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) on October 2nd at the Chapiteau de Fontvieille, Principauté de Monaco, Monaco. Abraham, 30, was beaten in his last fight in the Super Six tournament by Andre Dirrell in an 11th round disqualification defeat in March. Abraham was trailing in the fight and made the mistake of hitting Dirrell after he had slipped on the canvas. The referee disqualified Abraham for hitting Dirrell while he was down.

Froch: “There is no way that Abraham is going to beat me”

Image: Froch: “There is no way that Abraham is going to beat me”By Sean McDaniel: Former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) is convinced that he’s going to defeat former International Boxing Federation (IBF) middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 Ko’s) in their Super Six tournament battle on October 2nd, at the Chapiteau de Fontvieille, Principauté de Monaco, Monaco. The fight is being held in Monaco because Froch didn’t feel that he could win a decision if he were to travel to Germany and fight Abraham in Berlin. Instead of finding a country that is right nearby, the two fighters have settled for Monaco.

Can the Super Six format help save Boxing?

Image: Can the Super Six format help save Boxing?by Ronnie Jordan: Possibly the most popular decision in recent boxing history was to make the Showtime Super Six tournament, a reality. It’s so far widely regarded by fans, boxers and promoters alike as a huge success and has even been suggested as the future blue print for other weight classes. Having just watched the seventh installment of the entertaining and well made 360 super six documentaries, it’s reminded me why I love it so much. It’s completely changed the process of fight making and has generated opinion as of what direction the sport should head in. First off we should appreciate the fact they got five different promoters to agree to the terms. In the current climate that’s not only unlikely but bordering on impossible. Although there have been a few stumbling blocks it’s generally gone smoothly.
