Hearn: Froch will fight Bute next win or lose tonight against Mack

Image: Hearn: Froch will fight Bute next win or lose tonight against MackBy Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn says he plans on matching his fighter IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch up against former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute next March regardless of what the outcome of Froch’s fight against Yusaf Mack tonight. Even if Froch loses the fight, Hearn is still going to try and make the fight with Bute, because Hearn sees 2013 as “the year of the rematches” for Froch, according to Sky Sports.

Hearn said to Sky Ringside “Contractually we’re obligated to the Bute rematch, win or lose [against Mack]. 2013 is about the year of the rematches. Bute, [Mikkel] Kessler, then [Andre] Ward. Those are the three targets in 2013, and we believe we can make those fights happen. We’re planning on fighting Bute at the end of March. If they don’t take that then the fight will likely never happen.”

Carl Froch to prove why he’s the best super middleweight in the world tonight

Image: Carl Froch to prove why he’s the best super middleweight in the world tonightBy Marcus Stewart: The incredible fighting machine which is Carl Froch will be defending his IBF title against little known American Yusaf Mack. It’s a fight that Froch should win with ease against the predictable and untalented American.

Carl Froch is a proven warrior and has beaten some of the best super middleweight in the world. From Andre Dirrell to the over hyped Canadian Lucian Bute. He’s a beast and definitely a force to be reckoned with. Technically Froch should still be undefeated after battering Mikkel Kessler and dominating Andre Ward. This fight is more of a warm up bout for the rematch in Montreal against Bute, whereby he’ll be able to expose the Romanian based Canadian in front of his home fans.

Mack: Froch had his time. It’s my time now

Image: Mack: Froch had his time. It's my time nowBy Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) may be talking about fighting to his 40th birthday, but American Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s) is ready to kick his duff off the hill and take over as the IBF champion on Saturday night in their meeting in Nottingham. Mack figures that Froch is ready to picked off and he feels he’s just the man to do the job on him.

Mack said to thesun.co.uk “Froch has had his time, he had his world title shot. Now it’s my time.”

I agree. Froch had his time and is now 35, and in the position after a lot of grueling fights to where he’s vulnerable. Mack could be the guy to do it. That’s not to say that he will, but it’s possible. Mack is a little younger than Froch at 32, and he doesn’t have a lot of hard miles on him.

Froch could fight past 40

Image: Froch could fight past 40By Scott Gilfoid: 35-year-old IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) figures he can go another five years into his 40s as a fighter. Froch is projecting that he can still fight at a high enough level to be effective even that far in the future as he approaches his fight tomorrow night against Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s) in Nottingham.

Froch said to the Dailymail.co.uk “Rob [McCracken] wants me to do it…why not? Age is a number. I live right. No smoking, no drinking, no putting on weight. I feel great. A lot of my recent fights looked like wars but I haven’t taken too much punishment.”

Weigh-in: Froch vs. Mack, Bellew vs. Bolonti

Image: Weigh-in: Froch vs. Mack, Bellew vs. BolontiBy Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) easily made weight today in his weigh-in with American Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s) for their fight on Saturday night in Nottingham, UK. Froch, 35, came in at a half pound under the limit at 167 ½ lbs, whereas the 32-year-old Mack weighed in right on the limit of 168 lbs

Mack was picked out from the light heavyweight division for this fight, meaning he had to boil down from 175 to make weight. Some boxing fans feel that this was done to get an edge for Froch, because this could potentially be a lot easier fight for him than it would if Froch fought an actual contender from the super middleweight class that is used to fighting at this weight.

Mack: Froch got angry cause I called him a fake Calzaghe

YouTube video
By Scott Gilfoid: American light heavyweight Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s) got under the thin skin of IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) in their recent press conference when he did a little good old fashioned Philadelphia trash talking. I guess Froch isn’t used to the give in take of fighters from Philly because he got all bent out of shape about it.

Mack said this as quoted by thesun.co.uk: “I said he’s a fake Joe Calzaghe and it got under his skin.”

By Scott Gilfoid: The big punching Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s) intends on leaving a lot of sad and gloomy faces this Saturday night in Nottingham when he beats their hero IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) and then brings his International Boxing Federation strap back to the United States to show it off.

Mack said thesun.co.uk “This is the first time I have fought outside the United States. I intend to go back home [to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania] with the belt to make this trip worthwhile.”

Mack: Once Froch feels my power he’ll back off

Image: Mack: Once Froch feels my power he'll back offBy Scott Gilfoid: Light heavyweight contender Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s) brings a nice little two-fight winning streak into his fight this Saturday night against IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) in Nottingham, UK. Mack isn’t going to let Froch back him up and pound away on him like he did his last opponent Lucian Bute.

Mack has already said he’s going to stand his ground and not let the 35-year-old Froch put him in a position where he’ll have to fight with his back against the ropes in a helpless position.

Mack said “Once Froch feels my power, he’ll respect me. He won’t be rushing in fighting a bigger, stronger guy like me…he has to beat me.”

Froch vs. Mack this Saturday in Nottingham

Image: Froch vs. Mack this Saturday in NottinghamBy Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) fights Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s) this Saturday night at the Capital FM Arena, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom. Froch, 35, can’t afford any slip ups in this fight because a loss here will erase his dreams of a murderers row of top fighters that he wants to fight against Lucian Bute, Mikkel Kessler and Andre Ward.

Froch has fought a number of tough opponents in the last few years in Jermain Taylor, Jean Pascal, Andre Dirrell, Arthur Abraham, Glen Johnson, Mikkel Kessler and Andre Ward. Froch has struggled in virtually all of those fights, and is lucky that he has more than two wins out of that bunch.
