Cotto vs. Foreman: Could a better match-up been found for Yankee stadium than this?

Image: Cotto vs. Foreman: Could a better match-up been found for Yankee stadium than this?By Dave Lahr: On Saturday night, WBA junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (28-0, 8 KO’s)and Miguel Cotto (34-2, 27 KO’s) will be facing off for the first fight at Yankee Stadium since 1976, when Muhammad Ali and Ken Norton fought in a bout that that had a lot of meaning and excitement about it. The Foreman-Cotto fight, sadly, isn’t nearly the same fight in comparison. Cotto is coming off an knockout loss and Foreman has only fought a couple of top tier opponents during his career.

Will Cotto fans say that he was too small if he loses to Foreman on Saturday?

Image: Will Cotto fans say that he was too small if he loses to Foreman on Saturday?By Chris Williams: I already can hear the excuses coming from boxing fans of Miguel Cotto (34-2, 27 KO’s) if he loses to junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (28-0, 8 KO’s) this Saturday night at the Yankee Stadium, in the Bronx, New York. Cotto’s fans will likely start on the angle that the 5’7” Cotto was too small for the 5’11” Foreman, that he didn’t have enough size to compete with him, and that Cotto would have beaten him had he been three to four inches taller than he is now.

Pacquiao needs to fight Foreman if he destroys Cotto

Image: Pacquiao needs to fight Foreman if he destroys CottoBy Chris Williams: If WBA junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman puts the finish on Miguel Cotto this Saturday night, and if Manny Pacquiao isn’t able to have a fight put together between him and Floyd Mayweather Jr., then I think Pacquiao needs to fight Foreman next rather than someone else like Antonio Margarito. It’s only fair. Pacquiao is ready to take on Cotto if he beats Foreman, so why not fight Foreman if he beats Cotto?

Cotto thinks he’s going to cut off the ring on Foreman – Good luck

Image: Cotto thinks he's going to cut off the ring on Foreman - Good luckBy Chris Williams: Former WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (34-2, 27 KO’s) is under the impression that’s going to be able to cut off the ring on World Boxing Association junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (28-0, 8 KO’s) this Saturday night and pressure in their fight at the Yankee Stadium, in New York. Cotto, who has been beaten to a pulp in recent fights against Antonio Margarito and Manny Pacquiao, thinks that he’s going to be able to keep the constantly shifting around Foreman from not being able to move by stalking him around the ring.

Foreman, 29, will have the size advantage over Cotto, and the better footwork. Cotto has looked less than impressive since his fight with Shane Mosley in 2007, and has problems in that fight, his fights against Antonio Margarito, Joshua Clottey and Manny Pacquiao.

Cotto-Foreman: Can Miguel Get a break?

Image: Cotto-Foreman: Can Miguel Get a break?By Eric Torres: I have been an avid boxing fan for quite sometime now and must say that Miguel Cotto (34-2, 27 KO’s) is one of the bravest warriors I have had the pleasure to watch. A lot of fighters out there can learn a thing or two about class and professionalism. Cotto has not only displayed courage & heart but has also displayed a loyalty not only to himself & his family, but to pleasing his fans all over the world.

Steward says he made small changes with Cotto – but does he need something more drastic?

Image: Steward says he made small changes with Cotto – but does he need something more drastic?By Jim Dower: Miguel Cotto (34-2, 27 KO’s) has taken a pounding in the last three years in the ring, taking countless shots to the head, suffering multiple cuts and too numerous to count bone jarring shots. Cotto, once unbeaten and considered perhaps the best fighter in the welterweight division, has now lost two out of his last four fights. Cotto is extremely fortunate he hasn’t lost three out of his last four fights, because his 12 round split decision win over Joshua Clottey last year was controversial and it could have gone either way. It was an impressive outing, not even close.

Is there any way possible for Cotto to beat Foreman?

Image: Is there any way possible for Cotto to beat Foreman?By Chris Williams: Miguel Cotto (34-2, 27 KO’s) has been badly exposed in three out of his last four fights against Antonio Margarito, Joshua Clottey and most recently in his fight against Manny Pacquiao. On June 5th, Cotto will be moving up in weight to try and take the title away from WBA junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (28-0, 8 KO’s) at 154. Emanuel Steward, the new trainer for Cotto, says that his best weight is 151 and he thinks Cotto has improved immensely in the short period of time that he’s been training him. That sounds nice, but Cotto’s skin is like paper at this point in his career with a massive amount of scar tissue over and around both of his eyes, just waiting to be torn up by Foreman’s slashing punches.
