wladimir56449By Tom Stokes: For the past several years the eastern Europeans have become somewhat a staple in the heavyweight boxing division, much to the dislike of many boxers and boxing fans alike, calling them slow, fat, boring. Now the current champions (all eastern Europeans): Nikolay Valuev, Vitali Klitschko and Wladimir Klitschko are all putting their titles on the line against some good competition, so are these challengers going to be another walk in the park for the champions or are their reigns over the heavyweight division slowly drawing to a close?

Dawson vs. Johnson for WBC light Heavyweight title on Nov 7th; Klitschko Brothers Not Likely to Fight Haye

dawson42339By Jim Dower: Former International Boxing Federation light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (28-0, 17 KO’s) will be fighting a rematch against 40-year-old Glen Johnson (49-12-2, 33 KO’s) on November 7th for the interim WBC light heavyweight title at the XL Center, in Hartford, Connecticut. That fact that the WBC belt is on the line is somewhat of a joke, because there’s already a WBC light heavyweight champion and that’s Jean Pascal and this is just another sanctioning body trying to take advantage of a big fight by putting a title on the line when it really doesn’t matter.

Is Wladimir Klitschko One of the Greatest Punchers of All Time?

By William Mackay: Although IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (53-3, 47 KO’s) is flawed in the chin department, his power is undeniable. He punches incredibly hard with both hands and has perhaps the best jab in all of boxing. Since capturing the IBF heavyweight title with a 7th round stoppage against Chris Byrd in April 2006, Klitschko has knocked out six of his seven heavyweight challengers and dominated each one of them. His style of fighting leaves a lot to be desired most people will admit.

Lewis: “The Klitschko Brothers Should Fight” – News

By Scott Gilfoid: In an article in The Ring Magazine, former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis says he thinks the Klitschko brothers should fight. “I understand their mother doesn’t want to see them fight, but this isn’t tennis. They knew that when they got into boxing…In real life brothers fight all the time…Anyway you look at it, brothers get into it. Brothers fight. Why not get paid for it?” I’ve been saying the same thing for a long time. The Klitschko brothers need to stand up on their hind legs and make this fight happen.
