Wladimir vs. Chambers Next?

chambers5435By Jim Dower: According to Dan Rafael, IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (53-3, 49 KO’s) could be facing number #3 ranked IBF contender Eddie Chambers (35-1, 18 KO’s) next rather than Alexander Povetkin, Klitschko’s number #1 mandatory opponent. The word is that Povetkin’s assistant trainer Teddy Atlas wants to get Povetkin in another fight before Povetkin takes on Klitschko. That sounds like a good strategy by Atlas, because Povetkin, 28, has looked less than stellar in his last two fights, beating Taurus Sykes and Jason Estrada but getting hit a lot.

Wladimir Klitschko’s Wasted Opportunity for the Fans!

wladimir432456Photo courtesy of Pavel Terekhov – By Eric Torres: As a true fan of boxing I have come to realize that we are indeed facing a crisis in the heavyweight division, which was at one point a staple in the sport. We have seen the balance of power in boxing shift to the welterweight division and in my opinion that is the most competitive division in boxing. You have a series of superstars in that division fighting each other or at least attempting to sign fights with each other. That brings excitement & lets the imagination run ramped with thoughts of tremendous fights.

haye563445By Chris Williams: It seems as if British heavyweight David Haye (22-1, 21 KO’s) may have lost his golden goose when he backed out of a June 20th fight with IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko because of back spasms. A chain set of reactions have since occurred with Klitschko first replacing Haye as an opponent with Ruslan Chagaev, then telling Haye to “get in line” behind the other top contenders vying for a bout with Wladimir and then finally the collapse of Setanta Sports, who were going to be paying Haye for a fight with Klitschko.
