By William Mackay: The May 15th bout between World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan vs. Paulie Malignaggi could have a stacked undercard, according to Robert Morales of the Daily News. Unbeaten middleweight contender Daniel Jacobs (18-0, 15 KO’s) could be facing Peter Manfredo Jr. (34-6, 18 KO’s), a former contestant for The Contender reality television. Additionally, the card will have Nate Campbell vs. Victor Ortiz. Apparently, Oscar De La Hoya from Golden Boy Promotions is looking to try and put this fight together and add it to the Khan-Malignaggi undercard.

Victor Ortiz v Nate Campbell: A step too far a step too soon?
by Daniel Ciminera: Since losing to Marcos Maidana back in June last year, Victor Ortiz has had some serious questions asked of him as a fighter. Especially surrounding his heart and commitment as he quit from the fight with Maidana and has since been criticised for perhaps not taking the loss seriously enough. Personally, I’d tend to agree with Ortiz’s sentiment that (quote) “I’m not gonna go out on my back, I’m not gonna lay down for nobody you know, I’d rather just, hey, you know, I’m gonna stop while I’m ahead and that way I can speak well when I’m older you know.”
Ortiz stops Alatorre
By Jim Dower: Light welterweight contender Victor Ortiz (26-2-1, 21 KO’s) stopped Hector Alatorre (16-9, 5 KO’s) in the 10th round on Thursday night at the Club Nokia, in Los Angeles, California. Ortiz, 24, hurt the badly over-matched Alatorre with a huge left-right combination that caused referee David Mendoza to step in and halt the bout at 0:51 of the 10th round.
Campbell-Ortiz on May 15th: Is Nate too old to win this fight?
By Jim Dower: Former lightweight champion Nate Campbell (33-5-1, 25 KO’s) looks to be fighting lightweight contender Victor Ortiz (25-2-1, 20 KO’s) on May 15th on the undercard of the Amir Khan vs. Juan Manuel Marquez fight, according to Dan Rafael. On paper, this doesn’t look like a good fight at all for the 37-year-old Campbell, who didn’t look good in the three rounds of action in his previous fight at light welterweight against Timothy Bradley in August 2009.
Campbell-Ortiz, Khan-Marquez – News
By Dan Ambrose: ESPN writer Dan Rafael is reporting that Golden Boy Promotions is looking to put together a fight between light welterweight contender Victor Ortiz and former lightweight champion Nate Campbell for a bout that would take place on May 15th. The idea here is to put the Campbell-Ortiz fight on the undercard of a light welterweight bout between 36-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez and World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan.
Victor Ortiz vs. Alatorre on Feb 25th
By Jim Dower: Light welterweight contender Victor Ortiz (25-2-1, 20 KO’s) will continue with his comeback against the light hitting Hector Alatorre (16-8, 5 KO’s) on February 25th, at the Club Nokia, in Los Angeles, California. It looks like Ortiz’s promotional company, Golden Boy Promotions, isn’t going to take any chances with Ortiz that he might get beaten again by matching him soft this time. Alatorre, 28, has lost eight out of his last ten fights dating back to December 2006.
Malignaggi decisions Diaz, Ortiz stops Diaz, More!
By Jim Dower: Former International Boxing Federation light welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (27-3, 5 KO’s) revived his sagging career with a 12 round unanimous decision over former IBF/WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Diaz (35-3, 17 KO’s) at the UIC Pavilion, in Chicago, Illinois. The final judges’ scores were 116-111, 116-111 and 116-111. Malignaggi refused to get caught up in any war with Diaz on the inside, and instead boxed beautifully on the outside, hitting Diaz and moving away before the shorter fighter could land his shots.

Does the HBO light welterweight tournament need more participants?
By Chris Williams: With the recent rumors about HBO sports possibly putting together a four-man light welterweight tournament involving Amir Khan, Devon Alexander, Marcos Maidana and Victor Ortiz, I think the tournament won’t have the same effect as Showtime’s Super Six tournament because there simply isn’t enough participants in the tourney to make it interesting.
