Peter Fury: Charles Martin is as good as Deontay Wilder

1-MARTIN VS GLAZKOV-FIGHT NIGHT-01162016-0092By Scott Gilfoid: Peter Fury, the trainer for IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, says he was impressed with what he saw of American heavyweight Charles Martin (23-0-1, 21 KOs) last Saturday night in him beating Vyacheslav Glazkov (21-1-1, 13 KOs) to win the vacant IBF heavyweight title in their fight in New York.

The 6’5” Martin twice put Glazkov on the canvas in the 3rd round. They were called slips, but the slips were initiated by Martin throwing powerful right hand shots at Glazkov, which caused him to hit the canvas while trying to get out of the way of them.

Tyson Fury bellyaching about IBF giving Charles Martin 1 year to defend title

1-MARTIN AND FURY-FIGHT NIGHT-01162016-0573By Scott Gilfoid: IBF president Daryl Peoples has given newly crowned IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin (23-0-1, 21 KOs) one year to defend his title against his next opponent after winning the belt last Saturday night with an impressive third round stoppage win over #1 IBF Vyacheslav Glazkov (21-1-1, 13 KOs) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

This news has the recently stripped champion Tyson Fury up in arms, yapping left and right, as he feels that the IBF wants to keep their IBF title in the United States rather than have someone based outside of the U.S to hold it.

Deontay: I’m going to hurt Tyson Fury real, real bad!

wilder65432(Photo credit: Ed Diller/DiBella Entertainment) By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (36-0, 35 KOs) says he can’t wait to get Britain’s Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) inside the ring in 2016, because he wants to hurt Fury really bad and give him a beating. Unlike his opponent from last night, Artur Szpilka (20-2, 15 KOs), Deontay says he will not show any remorse after he bludgeons Fury into submission in their unification fight in the near future. Wilder want to take care of Fury and knock him out.

Fury attended last night at Wilder’s title defense against Szpilka at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. After the fight, Fury climbed into the ring and got in Wilder’s face, calling him out and saying he is a bum.

Wilder: Tyson Fury says he wants to fight me after Wladimir

Deontay has already spoken to IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, who has told him that he wants to fight him in a unification fight once he takes care of Wladimir Klitschko in their rematch in the first half of 2016.

Wilder-Szpilka: Fury expected to be ringside on Saturday

fury098By Scott Gilfoid: In a sign that we could be seeing a big unification fight later this year, IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) is expected to be ringside this Saturday night for WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder’s title defense against Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Since it’s hard to imagine Fury going through the trouble and the financial expense of traveling to the United States merely to watch the Wilder-Szpilka fight, which will be televised in the UK, it would seem obvious that Fury is scouting out Wilder up close so that he can figure out what it’s like to be in the same ring with the 6’7” talent.

Wladimir Klitschko says he knows what to do in Fury rematch

wladimir100By Allan Fox: Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) is still mentally healing from his defeat at the hands of Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) from last November in Dusseldorf, Germany. The 39-year-old Wladimir has analyzed his defeat from that night on 11/28, and he understands now why he failed to let his hands go in the way that he needed to in order to be victorious. Wladimir says he knows what he needs to do the next time he gets Fury in the ring in early 2016.

“I never engaged in the fight. I analyzed the reason for this, and I know what I need to do in the future. The result of the rematch will be different,” Klitschko said to boxing247.com.
Wladimir had the punching power and the hand speed to land his shots, but he seemed to lack the nerve to use his weapons. Wladimir looked like he was too concerned about getting countered by Fury if he missed one of his power shots. This appeared to be the reason why he didn’t let his hands go the way he needed to.

Mentally, Wladimir is likely to keep on suffering until he can finally get Fury in the ring to find out if he lost to the better man, or if he simply doesn’t have it anymore at the age of 39.

Fury to Wilder: “Fight me after I beat Wladimir again!”

YouTube video

By Scott Gilfoid: Well, IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) is mouthing off again. This time he’s giving the talented WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) some of his lip, saying he’s got skinny legs, and that he doesn’t know who Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) is. Fury says he wants to fight Deontay after he beats 39-year-old Wladimir Klitschko a second time.

Tyson Fury wins Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year for 2015

fury545By Scott Gilfoid: In a surprise move, Ring Magazine has made IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) as their 2015 Fighter of the Year award for his wins over Wladimir Klitschko and Christian Hammer.

Fury, 27, is sky high after winning the award, as I guess he didn’t figure he would be crowned with such an honor as this after the win.

Honestly, it’s difficult for me to agree with Fury being given 2015 Fighter of the Year award because I happened to see his fight against Wladimir, and it was painful to watch. It wasn’t just Wladimir looking as old as the hills and appearing totally shot.

It was also Fury fighting TERRIBLY, and looking almost as old as Wladimir. I thought it was a poor fight that I couldn’t even rate Fury after the fight. I mean, I don’t go for the ‘fighter of the year’ type jazz, but if I did have someone to pick out for 2015, it sure as heck wouldn’t be Fury.

Abraham: Wladimir beats Fury in rematch

wladimir44By Scott Gilfoid: WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham is saying that he believes 39-year-old Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) will come out victorious in his recent with Britain’s Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) in 2016 to avenge his loss from last November and recapture some of his lost world titles in the process.

Abraham thinks that Wladimir just had a bad day when he fought Fury last year, but this time he’s going to be better prepared for the things that Fury does in the ring so that he can win back his IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight titles.

If Wladimir wants to win back his IBF title, he’ll need to fight the winner of this Saturday’s fight between Charles Martin and Vyacheslav Glazkov, because they’ll be fighting for the vacant IBF title on the undercard of the Deontay Wilder vs. Artur Szpilka fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Haye still wants Tyson Fury fight

haye3333By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) has not given up on the idea of facing IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) in the future. Haye says he sees Fury as being someone in the mix for a fight between them so that he can try to win Fury’s titles.

Haye has a long, long ways to go before there is any chance of him fighting Fury for his titles. Haye, 35, will be fighting #10 WBA Mark De Mori (30-1-2, 26 KOs) this Saturday night on January 16 at the O2 Arena in London, UK. If Haye beats De Mori, then he plans to fight a couple of guys in 2016 before possibly facing British/Commonwealth heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua by the end of the year.

“Hopefully he wins the rematch against Wladimir Klitschko and he can get in the mix, and I can get all the belts, basically,” Haye said to skysports.com.
