By Nate Anderson: Heavyweight contender Tony Thompson (36-2, 24 KO’s) will get a second shot against IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (57-3, 50 KO’s) on July 7th in a big fight in Switzerland. It’s big for Thompson because it could be his last chance at landing a world title shot. It took Thompson four years to get a second title fight after he was stopped in the 11th round by Wladimir in 2008.

Wladimir needs to make quick work of Thompson on July 7th
By Allan Fox: The last time IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (53-3, 50 KO’s) fought Tony Thompson (36-2, 24 KO’s) in 2008, Wladimir played it safe by pecking away at Thompson with jabs and single right hands for 10 rounds and having poor luck in hurting him.
Wladimir needs to throw left hooks against Thompson on July 7th rematch
By Jason Kim: The last time IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (57-3, 50 KO’s) fought heavyweight contender Tony Thompson (36-2, 24 KO’s) in July 2008, Wladimir threw mostly jabs and right hands exclusively. By Dan Ambrose: IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (57-3, 50 KO’s) and Tony Thompson (36-2, 24 KO’s) will be fighting once again this July 7th in a rematch in a still to be determined location in Switzerland. They’re looking at putting the fight in a soccer stadium in Berne. By Allan Fox: IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (57-3, 50 KO’s) will likely be facing #2 IBF contender Tony Thompson in a rematch on July 7th, according to ESPN. Wladimir already wiped out four years ago by an 11th round TKO victory in 2008, but Thompson has fought his way back to become Wladimir’s IBF mandatory challenger by beating five consecutive opponents to get his second shot.
Klitschko vs. Tony Thompson – another mismatch for Wladimir
By Allan Fox: IBF/WBA heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (57-3, 50 KO’s) will be facing his second consecutive 40-year-old opponent in Tony Thompson (36-2, 24 KO’s) in his next fight in the summer in July or August. There isn’t a specific date yet for the fight but it’s going to happen and most likely in the summer barring any injuries from either fighter during training camp.
Hype won’t help Thompson beat Klitschko
By John F. McKenna (McJack): In all probability (Super) WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO and The Ring heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (57-3, 50 KO’s) will face his mandatory challenger Tony “The Tiger” Thompson (36-2, 24 KO’s) sometime this coming summer. It is probably not a fight that would be “Dr. Steelhammer’s” first choice, but a fight that he must take to avoid losing his International Boxing Federation (IBF) crown. Klitschko at this stage of his career has worked too hard to lose his IBF crown for not fighting his mandatory challenger.
Wladimir: I’m fighting Tony Thompson in June or July
