Bradley Takes on the Dangerous Campbell on August 1st

bradley33226By Matt Stein: World Boxing Organization light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (24-0, 11 KO’s) faces arguably his toughest opponent of his career in a fight against former IBF/WBA/WBO lightweight champion Nate Campbell (33-5-1, 25 KO’s) on August 1st at the Agua Caliente Casino, in Rancho Mirage, California. Campbell, a young 37, lost his titles on the scale in a fight against Ali Funeka in his last fight on February 14th. No longer able to make the lightweight limit without a severe struggle, Campbell opted to move up in weigh to the light welterweight division.

Boxing News – Khan vs. Kotelnik Postponed Until July 18th; Bradley vs. Campbell on August 1st

By Chris Williams: Lightweight Amir Khan (20-1, 15 KOs) will have to wait an additional three weeks to get a shot at World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Andreas Kotelnik (31-2-1, 13 KOs) who because of a nasty infection of one of his teeth can’t fight until July 18th. The delay will make it necessary for the fight to be held at the MEN Arena instead of the O2 Arena because singer Michael Jackson has a scheduled date to sing on June 27th.

Hatton vs. the Best Light Welterweights in the World

By Scott Gilfoid: We now know that Ricky Hatton wasn’t in the same league as Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., both of whom took Hatton out without too much fuss. However, I wonder how Hatton would do against one of the top light welterweights in the division. Supposedly, Hatton had a rough camp with his trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. and things didn’t go smoothly, enough so that his father Ray Hatton felt that Ricky would have been better off had he pulled out of the fight.

News – Bradley Vacates WBC Title

bradley33228By Jim Dower: The World Boxing Council has stripped unbeaten WBC light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (24-0, 11 KOs) for reportedly not facing his WBC number #1 ranked challenger Devon Alexander. However, Bradley, 25, sent in an e-mail earlier today to the WBC, telling them that he’s vacating the WBC title because the WBC was telling him to choose between keeping either the WBC or WBO light welterweight titles. It seemed like an easy choice for Bradley to make.

Bradley – Who is Next For Timothy?

Bradley, 25, survived a 1st and 12th round knockdown to get the victory, earning it by winning almost every except for the beginning and last round of the fight.
