bradley434By Sam Gregory: On Saturday August 1st, the brand-new, ‘The Show at Agua Caliente Casino, Resort and Spa’ in the desert community of Rancho Mirage, California will play host to an exciting twinbill of boxing featuring four of the most talented 140-pounders in the world on Showtime Championship Boxing.

In the main event unbeaten Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley (24-0, 11 KO’s) will defend his WBO Jr welterweight world title against former world champion Nate “The Galaxxy Warrior” Campbell (33-5-1, 25 KO’s) in a scheduled 12 round bout in the Jr welterweight division.

In the co-main event on Showtime Championship Boxing, the man Tim Bradley defeated in a split decision to capture his first world title and ranked #3 by Ring magazine, Junior “The Hitter” Witter (37-2-2, 22 KO’s) will take on the undefeated and the WBO #2 ranked Devon Alexander “The Great” (18-0, 11 KO’s) for the vacant 140 pound WBC belt that Bradley won from Kendall Holt last April and later relinquished.

The event will be promoted by Gary Shaw Productions and Thompson Boxing Promotions in association with Don King Productions and Agua Caliente Casino Resort and Spa. Tickets went on sale July 3rd and will be available for purchase online at www.HotWaterCasino.com/TheShow or by calling 800-585-3737

Former undisputed lightweight champion Nat Campbell will be moving up in weight to challenge Bradley at 140 pounds. At 37 years of age Campbell is an experienced and crafty boxer who hits with knockout power, 25 of his 33 wins were by knockout.

At a press conference prior to the fight Bradley was asked about Campbell in regards to this title fight, Bradley said, “Nate is a good person. He is a veteran that has been watching me for a while but what he saw from outside of the ring is different than what he will fell inside. Witter and Holt both saw me as a lesser threat. Ask them what they think now. And as great as Campbell thinks he is as a fighter, I am in my prime and he will not take that away from me.”

In Campbell’s rebuttal to Bradley’s comments he said, “I have no personal beef with Timmy, and I respect him for taking this fight when a sanctioning organization hasn’t ordered him to do it. Bradley has two things I want: A world title and his undefeated record, and I will take them both.”

As well conditioned and confident as Bradley is this will be the toughest fight of his professional career against 37 year old Nate Campbell of Jacksonville, Florida. Campbell is a hard hitting extremely determined veteran fighter who shocked the boxing world when he beat the previously undefeated Juan Diaz for the undisputed lightweight championship of the world in March of 08’.

Tim Bradley is an undefeated crowd pleasing non-stop puncher; the odds makers have him as the favorite to win this fight. Bradley has been known to score quick knockdowns of his opponents as was the case in his split decision win over Junior Witter; Bradley caught Witter with an overhand right that sent him to the canvas in the sixth round.

At the other side of the ring Nate Campbell has scored knockouts in 25 of his 33 wins. This fight will not be a sleeper! Both men are coming to brawl and they have the tools to do it.

Featured in the co-main event Devon Alexander is the flashiest fighter to come out of St Louis since four-time world champion Cory Spinks. Alexander is undefeated in 18 fights, 11 of the fights have been won by KO, including his last three opponents.

Fighting for the second time in the United States Junior Witter has a wealth of knowledge and experience. Witter’s first loss was over nine years ago to the than highly regarded Zab Judah; Witter went on to win his next 15 fights by knockout. The only other loss in Witter’s 41 fight professional career came just over a year ago in a closely fought split decision to Timothy Bradley.

Two belts will be on the line (WBO and WBC) in this unique Jr welterweight doubleheader, Saturday August 1st, on Showtime Championship Boxing.
