By D.A: It’s no secret the most exciting weight divisions to the boxing world and family is the 140-160 range. Of course most of us can agree 147 is the most watched and exciting weight division. The 2nd in my opinion would be the 154/160 divisions in a draw. Recently we’ve seen the best 154 and 160 fighters all win their bouts and fans are calling for all 3 to fight at some point.
That would be Miguel Cotto, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Gennady “GGG” Golovkin. Boxing fans have been wanting to see Miguel Cotto square off with GGG to see who is the best middleweight fighter in the world. While Golovkin is a title holder he is not the legitimate champion. Cotto captured the 160 crown after beating the former Middleweight king Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez.
By Dan Ambrose: Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s trainer/manager Eddy Reynoso says that Canelo wants to capture Miguel Cotto’s WBC middleweight title. He wants that belt. He doesn’t care if the fight takes place at a catch-weight of 155lbs, as long as he can get a shot at Cotto’s 160 pound title.
By D.A: Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (44-1-1 31 KOs) numbers are rumored to have went up by a little against southpaw Erislandy Lara. Canelo’s PPV numbers last time he fought against Angulo were 300-350K which were exceeding expectations according to former CEO of Golden Boy Promotions Richard Schaefer.
By Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum ruled out once again a fight between his guy WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KOs) and former WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (44-1-1, 31 KOs) for Cotto’s next fight date on December 13th at Madison Square Garden in New York.
By Dan Ambrose: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says the ultimate decision on who WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KOs) wants to fight in his next couple of bouts is going to be made by him.
By Dan Ambrose: Trainer Freddie Roach still isn’t willing to display his cards about how he plans on telling his fighter WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KOs) to fight next in December. Roach went on a scouting run last night at Madison Square Garden in New York to watch WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin’s fight against Daniel Geale.
By Cameron Gillon: Last night at Madison Square Garden in New York City America, power punching Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) made short work of Australia’s Daniel Geale (30-3, 16 KOs) to retain his WBA and IBO middleweight world titles in a 3rd round knockout. I myself made a prediction of a 8th or 9th round KO for Golovkin.
By Idris Morrey: The kind of talent waiting to face Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is growing steadily by the day. Names are coming up and they have convincing records to deserve a match-up with the hard hitting Mexican.
By Dan Ambrose: WBO junior middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade (21-0, 14 KO’s) is hoping that former WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez or Erislandy Lara (19-2-2, 12 KO’s) will step up to face him now that the two fighters have settled their differences in their recent bouts.
