Santos Saul Álvarez Barragán, better known as Canelo, which translates to ‘cinnamon’ for his fiery red hair, has spiced up the boxing scene since his debut. Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1990, this pugilist has clinched world championships across four weight divisions, making him a staple in the Hall of Fame pantry. Canelo unified titles in three divisions and claimed lineal championships in two, notably overpowering Miguel Cotto in 2015 for the WBC, Ring, and lineal middleweight crowns. Outside the ring, Canelo’s life is just as sweet, sharing it with his two kids, Emily Cinnamon Alvarez and Mía Ener Álvarez, and his wife, Fernanda Gómez, since 2021. According to Forbes, Canelo is worth at least $275 million!

cotto (3) By Dan Ambrose: There are quite a few boxing fans who are leaning in the direction of Saul “ Canelo” Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs) to defeat WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs) in their fight next month on November 21st on HBO pay-per-view at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Rosado thinks that Cotto’s superior boxing ability will enable him to out-box Canelo and get the victory. Rosado notes that the type of fighters that have given Cotto problems in the past where aggressive fighters that put a lot of pressure on him. Canelo doesn’t have the engine to fight hard for more than 10 seconds at a time before he has to back off and take a rest break on the outside.

I’m not talking about the pound-for-pound rankings, which are put together by a small handful of people.

I’m talking about someone to take over Mayweather’s spot as the No.1 fighter that brings in the fans for pay-per-view. Bernard Hopkins thinks that guy in the lead position right now is former WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs). For Canelo to take Mayweather’s throne completely, he’s going to need to beat WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto in their fight next month on November 21st.

Andre Ward’s days at 168 are done, says Rafael

According to Dan Rafael, Ward won’t be fighting at super middleweight any longer. Rafael says the 31-year-old Ward will be moving up to the light heavyweight division (175) for his next fight, which could take place on the undercard of the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Miguel Cotto card on November 21st at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

By Allan Fox: After having been out of the ring since last June in his mismatch against Daniel Geale, WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs) has started his training camp with trainer Freddie Roach to get him ready to face the tough Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs) on November 21st at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 34-year-old Cotto is taking his toughest fight since losing to Austin Trout in 2012. Cotto is going to need to prove once and for all in the Canelo fight whether Roach has rejuvenated him with his training techniques or if he’s merely been playing a trick on himself by thinking he has.

The sport of boxing is not really having a great time lately and it looks like there is not yet any fighter ready to take Mayweather’s place at the top of it.

Quite impressive were the flattering words of Robert Garcia who declared, a few days ago, that Floyd still fighting like a 25 years old young man.

Dan Ambrose: Trainer Roger Mayweather thinks that former WBA/WBC 154lb champ Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs) will be just too big for WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs) in their fight two months from now on November 21st on HBO pay-per-view from the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Roger expects that the 25-year-old Canelo will use his weight advantage to beat the smaller 5’7” Cotto. Roger thinks it’s going to be a real beat down for Canelo in this fight. The 5’9” Canelo rehydrates to the mid-170s at 175; whereas Cotto comes in at around 160 for his fights.

Ward’s promoters at Roc Nation Sports are working on setting up a fight for Ward at light heavyweight for the card. Roc Nation is working on a three-fight deal with HBO for Ward. HBO is usually pretty selective in the fights that they agree to for their fighters on their network.

Canelo seems to think that his fight will be better fight, but Canelo didn’t look good in his fights against Erislandy Lara, Austin Trout and Mayweather. Those weren’t boring fights because of Canelo’s opponents.
