Canelo’s $15M offer to Golovkin is unfair says Hunter

Image: Canelo’s $15M offer to Golovkin is unfair says Hunter

By Dan Ambrose: Trainer Virgil Hunter doesn’t agree with the $15 million offer that Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and his promoters at Golden Boy Promotions is making to IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin for a fight in September. Hunter thinks Canelo and Golden Boy are waiting for Golovkin to get old before they fight him. Golovkin is about to turn 35, so it’s quite possible that they can wait him out until he’s older and no longer the fighter he is today before finally agreeing to fight him.

As far as Hunter is concerned, it’s not a fair offer that Canelo is giving to Triple G, because he wouldn’t be making the big money if he wasn’t fighting the Kazakhstan star. Hunter sees Canelo and Golden Boy waiting Golovkin out until he gets old or gets beaten by someone before they chose to fight him. He can understand that move, because it keeps Canelo from taking another loss on his record.

Jacobs picks Chavez Jr. over Canelo

Image: Jacobs picks Chavez Jr. over Canelo

By Dan Ambrose: WBA ‘regular’ middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs is choosing former WBC 160lb champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs) to defeat Golden Boy Promotions flagship fighter Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) in their fight on May 6 on Cinco de Mayo. Jacobs sees the fight being decided on the 30-year-old Chavez Jr’s greater size advantage over the 5’8” Canelo.

Chavez Jr. is a 6’0’ super middleweight, who has a lot power to go along with his height and reach advantage. Chavez Jr. is also a very good body puncher, and we just saw Canelo have a lot of problems in his last fight against WBO 154lb champion Liam Smith with his body punching.

That’s the idea that Golden Boy still wants to carry out. However, before the Canelo-Golovkin fight can take place, both fighters will need to get through their fights before then. Canelo says Golovkin was given offer he doesn’t deserve

Image: Canelo says Golovkin was given offer he doesn’t deserve

By Dan Ambrose: Saul “Canelo” Alvarez says Gennady “GGG” Golovkin has already been given an offer that he doesn’t deserve in the $15 million offer Golden Boy made to him for a fight in September this year. Canelo says that if Golovkin doesn’t accept the offer then there is no fight between them. Unfortunately, it sounds like the offer from Golden Boy and Canelo to Golovkin was a ‘take it or leave it offer’ rather than a starting point for negotiations.

There’s a lot of boxing fans that want to see Golovkin and Canelo fight each other. They’re both very popular fighters.

Golovkin beats Canelo says Lomachenko

Lomachenko sees Golovkin as a monster with huge power.

Lomachenko isn’t the only one that is impressed with Golovkin’s power and skill. Former cruiserweight world title challenger Ola Afolabi rates Golovkin’s power as good as a heavyweight, because he’s sparred with him before in the past.

Chavez Jr. already down to 180lbs for Canelo

Image: Chavez Jr. already down to 180lbs for Canelo

By Dan Ambrose: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs) has his weight on target to easily make the 164 ½ pound catch-weight for his mega-fight against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) on May 6 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Chavez Jr. says he’s already down to 180 pounds, and is just 15 ½ pounds above the limit for his fight against Canelo. With that kind of weight, it’s quite possible that Chavez Jr. will be outweighed by Canelo on the night of the fight, because he might be in the 180s on the night of the fight.

Chavez Jr. needs to make sure that he doesn’t take too much weight off for the fight, because the potential is there for him to overdo it during the nearly three months that he has before the fight on May 6. Getting too low might work against Chavez Jr.

Chavez Jr. is dangerous fight for Canelo says Golovkin’s promoter

Image: Chavez Jr. is dangerous fight for Canelo says Golovkin’s promoter

By Jeff Aranow: Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) has a very dangerous fight in front of him in his May 6 fight against the bigger super middleweight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, according to middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler. He thinks it’s a risky fight for Canelo, because he’s moving up from the 154 pound division up to the super middleweight division to fight a big puncher in Chavez Jr.

Loeffler says that Chavez Jr. is known for adding a great deal of weight after he rehydrates for his fights, and it’s going to be very difficult for Canelo to be facing someone that big inside the ring.
