By Jim Dower: Gennady Golovkin and Saul Canelo Alvarez are still set to face each other on May 5th, but with the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s investigation steaming ahead, there’s a small chance that the fight could be canceled.

Santos Saul Álvarez Barragán, better known as Canelo, which translates to ‘cinnamon’ for his fiery red hair, has spiced up the boxing scene since his debut. Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1990, this pugilist has clinched world championships across four weight divisions, making him a staple in the Hall of Fame pantry. Canelo unified titles in three divisions and claimed lineal championships in two, notably overpowering Miguel Cotto in 2015 for the WBC, Ring, and lineal middleweight crowns. Outside the ring, Canelo’s life is just as sweet, sharing it with his two kids, Emily Cinnamon Alvarez and Mía Ener Álvarez, and his wife, Fernanda Gómez, since 2021. According to Forbes, Canelo is worth at least $275 million!
Canelo showing little respect for Golovkin
By Jim Dower: Saul Canelo Alvarez’s comments made on Wednesday towards his opponent Gennady Golovkin suggests that he no longer has much respect for the Kazakhstan fighter, who is accusing him of being a drug cheat following his two positive tests for the banned substance clenbuterol.
Canelo is angry and it appears he’s no longer going to treat Golovkin with the same kind of respect that he did before their first fight last September.
