Who do you pick – De la Hoya vs. Duran?

Image: Who do you pick - De la Hoya vs. Duran?By Gerardo Granados: The “Golden Boy” Oscar De la Hoya against Roberto “Manos de Piedra” Duran fighting at lightweight for the World title. This fight might resemble the brawl in Montreal in a few aspects, as both De la Hoya and Leonard were Olympic gold medalists, that the height and reach are very similar, and also that both are multiple division champions; but Sugar Ray might have been better over all skilled than Oscar in their prime. Roberto Duran was the underdog when he fought against Leonard but against De la Hoya odds would be even.

De La Hoya has no doubts that Mayweather would whip Pacquiao

By Dave Lahr: Boxing great Oscar De La Hoya believes Floyd Mayweather Jr. (41-0, 25 KO’s) would have too much talent for little Manny Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KO’s) if they were to fight. Speaking on his twitter page, De La Hoya said “There is no doubt in my mind Mayweather beats Pacquiao. Styles make fights. Its called styles. Mayweather will be patient to wait for Manny to make the same mistakes. You see, Manny is fast but Mayweather’s timing is key. I respect Manny and he is great for our sport, but Mayweather’s style will beat anyone if you don’t have a hard fast jab.”

De La Hoya not planning on making a comeback

Image: De La Hoya not planning on making a comebackBy Jason Kim: Former six division world champion Oscar De La Hoya (39-6, 30 KO’s) doesn’t plan on making a comeback, according to news from Dan Rafael on his twitter. Haye-Klitschko: De La Hoya says he doesn’t see any reason why the fight can’t take place in Las Vegas

Image: Haye-Klitschko: De La Hoya says he doesn't see any reason why the fight can't take place in Las VegasBy William Mackay: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) wants his proposed fight with IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) to take place at the Wembley Stadium, in England. However, Haye is going to have to let go of that dream if he wants the honor of being able to fight the best heavyweight in the world.

There’s no way that Wladimir or his brother World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko are going to travel to the UK to fight a heavyweight with as little experience at the heavyweight level that Haye has going for him. Oscar De La Hoya from Golden Boy Promotions seems to be okay with the Haye-Klitschko fight talking place in Vegas.

Image: No De La Hoya vs. Hatton and Adamek vs. Roy Jones Jr.By Jason Kim: The rumor that’s been circulating around about Oscar De La Hoya coming back to fight Ricky Hatton has now been declared false by none other than De La Hoya himself. The rumor started this past week coming from an English news site, who reported that Robert Diaz, the matchmaker for Golden Boy Promotions, was interested in putting together a bout between Ricky Hatton and De La Hoya. This got a lot of fans excited about the fight, because it would seem like an interesting fight given the popularity of Hatton and De La Hoya.
In an article by Dan Rafael of ESPN, De La Hoya had this to say about fighting Hatton:

Who do you pick? De la Hoya vs. Sugar Ray Leonard

By Gerardo Granados: Both fighting at welterweight, young and hungry for glory, fame and money. This fight would set PPV records. Yeah sure, this two warriors belong to different eras (but still both are modern era fighters) and as usual the young boxing fans did not get the chance to watch Leonard engage with other historical greats such as Roberto Duran – Tommy Hearns – Wilfred Benitez – Marvin Hagler, or even the youngest boxing fans can not remember Oscar fighting for the WBO super featherweight title against Jimmi Bredhal (his first title) or the WBO lightweight title against Jorge “Maromero” Paez, both fights way back in 1994.

Oscar De La Hoya measured against all-time

By Sam Singh: Following my recent article on measuring Joe Calzaghe against all time (available at: http://www.boxingnews24.com/2010/10/joe-calzaghe-measured-against-all-time), I feel compelled as an avid boxing spectator to review the career of Oscar De La Hoya, and, in doing so, voice my firm support for his achievements.
