Froch: I think I can stop Kessler in the later rounds

froch65By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) thinks he can drag WBA champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) into the later rounds next Saturday night and drown him in front of a packed O2 Arena in London, UK. The place will be filled with Froch’s British fans and he feels he can draw energy from them to get the stoppage.

Froch said to Sky Sports News “I’m ready to do the business and get redemption against Mikkel Kessler. It’s still going to be just as brutal, just as vicious, just as hard early on, but as the fight goes into 8, 9 and 10, and it’s in the championship rounds, 10, 11 and 12, that’s when I can take him and clean him out, knock him out and force a late stoppage.”

Froch still making excuses about loss to Kessler

froch111By Scott Gilfoid: Just when you thought IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch had finally come to terms with his 12 round unanimous decision loss to Mikkel Kessler from three years ago in 2010 in Herning, Denmark, Froch had to start up with the excuses once again in blaming his loss on an ash cloud that delayed his travel to Denmark at the time.

I wish Froch would just admit that he lost the fight because it might help him recognize what he needs to improve upon for his rematch with Kessler on May 25th at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Froch said to thesun.co.uk “Without really knowing it, I was expending a lot of energy. I was on a high because of the adrenalin rush…The plane, the rally car, the weigh-in, the delays, everything mounted up.”

Reid: Froch will beat Kessler

froch4By Scott Gilfoid: Robin Reid is picking IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) to beat WBA champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) on May 25th at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Like a lot of guys, Reid’s rationale for selecting Froch as the winner is because he feels that Froch is getting better at age 35.

I’m not sure I agree with that, but I do think his opposition has been getting worse since his loss to Andre Ward. It’s easy for Froch to look good when he’s facing guys that weren’t as good as the guys that were beating him.

Kessler: Froch’s power won’t help him on May 25th

kessler434By Scott Gilfoid: WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) isn’t worried about IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch’s long reach or big power in their fight on May 25th.

Kessler plans on whipping Froch just like he did three years ago when he got the better of him in the Super Six tournament in Herning, Denmark.

Kessler was able to get inside Froch’s long reach and pound him with accurate combinations that had Froch reeling each time the two would come together for an exchange.

Kessler talking retirement if he loses to Froch

kessler2By Scott Gilfoid: WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) is talking about ending his boxing career if he gets beat by IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) in their rematch in two weeks at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

I don’t know why Kessler would eve talk retirement because the chances are he’s going to win and look sensational in doing so. Is there a possibility he’ll lose? Yeah, but I only see him losing if he gets jobbed. After all, he is fighting Froch in his home country of the UK, and not in a neutral venue.

Under those circumstances, there’s a very real chance that Kessler could lose the fight even if he puts in a master class performance. When you’re fighting in someone else’s hometown or in this case home country, getting shafted kind of goes with the territory.

Froch beats Kessler, says Roach

froch65By Scott Gilfoid: Freddie Roach believes that IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) will beat WBA super middleweight Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) when the two fighters meet up for their pay per view rematch on May 25th in London, UK. Roach thinks Froch, 35, is too young for the 34-year-old.

Roach said to RingTV “I think Froch is too young and too much for him at this point. I think Froch wins by a decision.”

I hate to be the one to break this to Roach, but Kessler is actually the younger fighter and he looks a lot younger than Froch as well. I mean, I don’t knock Roach for being ignorant about the ages of the fighters. After all, he’s not a writer and it’s not his job to keep up with those kinds of things. That’s my job. I keep track of ages and junk like that.

Kessler: Froch’s aggression will be good for me

kessler#1By Scott Gilfoid: WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) thinks IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) will be a little a little too hot-headed for their rematch this month on May 25th and will come out on fire looking to pay him back for his previous loss to the Dane three years ago.

Kessler sees Froch’s aggressiveness working against him because he’ll be fighting like he’s completely lost his sense and be fighting like a wild man instead of with intelligence.

kessler#11By Scott Gilfoid: WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) is being helped by Brits Nathan Cleverly and George Groves for his fight this month against IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) on May 25th at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Kessler is really pleased with the sparring sessions with Groves and Cleverly, and he feels that this is going to give him a real advantage when he steps inside the ring with Froch.

Froch vs. Kessler: Mikkel’s jab will be key to victory

froch11By Scott Gilfoid: If there’s one specific area where there is a clear different between IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) and WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) that separates the two fighters going into their May 25th fight this month it’s the vastly superior jab that the 34-year-old Kessler has going for him.

He not only has a better jab, but he’s a lot faster, throws better combinations, moves better and is the better athlete. But the jab is going to be the key to victory for Kessler because I see Froch backing off almost immediately at the start of the fight and looking to make it a jab war after he tastes some of Kessler’s power shots and realizes the hopeless of the situation.

Froch-Kessler: Carl will need the perfect game plan to keep from getting beat

froch45445By Scott Gilfoid: We saw how Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) was thoroughly out-boxed by Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) the last time the two fought each other in 2010. Froch couldn’t do anything right. When he tried to box, Kessler took the fight to him and forced him to eat jabs, left hooks and right hands for a main course.

When Froch tried to get back in the fight in the last four rounds, Kessler got the better of him in their exchanges. Froch was like a kid who had procrastinated until the last minute with his homework assignment in the way he tried to get back in the fight.
