Froch: I will kill Kessler, if I have to

froch#1By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) reportedly went WAY overboard in trying to hype his fight with WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) for Saturday night by saying he’s ready to kill Kessler if he has to.

Froch seemed really agitated at the press conference, like he had come unglued for some unknown reason. Whether it’s real or just staged aggression isn’t clear, but what is clear that Froch’s comments may end up leading to disciplinary action from the British Boxing Board of Control.

Froch said this as quoted by the telegraph.co.uk “On Saturday night, if I have to, I will kill this f*****. I will kill him. It sounds brutal, it sounds horrible, but that is what this means to me…And when I am smashing his face in, I am going to go for the kill, I am going to go for the finish.”

Groves wants Froch-Kessler winner

kessler#200(Photo Credit: Thomas Sjorup) By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten super middleweight contender George Groves (18-0, 14 KO’s) wants to fight the winner of Saturday’s unification match-up between IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch and WBA champion Mikkel Kessler. Groves’ promoter Eddie Hearn feels that it would be an easy fight to put together between Groves and Froch should Froch get past Kessler on Saturday night.

However, it’ll be up to Froch whether he’s agreeable to fighting Groves, and right now it looks like Froch wants no part of him.

Groves said to Sky Sports “I’m number two with the WBA…I’m very close to being the mandatory…That could mean I could fight the winner of these two.”

Froch vs. Kessler II: The Viking War of England

YouTube video
By Andreas Strøjer Tynan Schmidt: In 1013, the Danish Vikings and the Englishmen settled a battle that had been going on for years and eventually ended in the capital of England, London. The Danish Vikings were led by a strong and brutal Viking warrior, King Sweyn Forkbeard, who ironically had English blood running through his veins.

Will Froch-Kessler winner face Andre Ward?

ward3432By Scott Gilfoid: Both Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler have talked about wanting to avenge their defeats by WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward recently and Ward is really hoping that he can get both of them in the ring again so that he can shot that his victories over the two European fighters wasn’t a fluke.

This Saturday Froch and Kessler will be facing each other in a rematch at the O2 Arena in London, UK. The winner of the fight really has no place to go in the division other than to try and redeem themselves by facing Ward again to show that they’re not as bad as Ward made them both look in his dominating performances against them.

Hearn said to thesun.co.uk “I think it’s a pure 50-50 fight, but I think Froch is the favorite because he has the hometown advantage. I do think Carl is fitter, stronger and fresher than Kessler.”

Groves: I’m not unpatriotic; Kessler is half English, Froch is Polish

groves4534By Scott Gilfoid: George Groves (18-0, 14 KO’s) has taken a lot of heat about him choosing to spar with WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler to help him get ready for his fight against IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch this Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

A lot of fans saw Groves’ move in doing this as unpatriotic move because Froch is from Britain like Groves, whereas Kessler is from Denmark.

Groves made an attempt to shut down the criticism on his social media site today, saying “For everyone who is saying I am unpatriotic for sparring with Mikkel Kessler, remember…Mikkel is half English and Carl Froch is Polish.”

Froch vs. Kessler II: Redemption

froch#6By Dan Henderson: This Saturday night will see the highly anticipated rematch between Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler. Their first fight was an action packed twelve rounder in which Kessler was announced the winner via a unanimous decision with scores of 116–112, 115–113 and 117–111. I had scored the bout closer than that but that is now history, the question on everyone’s lips is can Froch win the rematch?

I believe that he will, since the fight Froch has gone on to become the IBF super middleweight champion after mauling former unbeaten champion Lucian Bute inside five rounds in Nottingham. I’m not saying this will be an easy fight because Kessler is a world class operator who will bring everything to this fight.

Froch brands Groves & Cleverly as disloyal for them helping Kessler with training

froch2By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) wasn’t pleased at hearing the news that WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly and unbeaten British super middleweight contender George Groves both helped out WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler with sparring to get him ready for his fight with Froch this Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Froch said to the telegraph.co.uk “They’d rather go out there and help a foreign fighter prepare for the biggest fight of my career…the fact that Groves – and I think Nathan Cleverly – has gone out there to help him, sums up what they are: they are quite bitter and jealous and they want to fight with me, but it’s not happening because I’m a league above them.”

Magee picks Kessler to beat Froch this Saturday, May 25th

kessler43By Scott Gilfoid: Brian Magee sees WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) as too intelligent, too skilled and much too active for the slower, wide open IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) in their fight this Saturday night on May 25th at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Magee sees Froch as just a wild swinging puncher who doesn’t think like Kessler does when he’s letting his shots go.

Magee said to Sky Sports News about Froch and Kessler’s fight in 2010: “When they were both toe-to-toe, Kessler was cool and smart enough, His boxing brain was still ticking over while Froch was just like a mad dog in a frenzy, throwing wild punches…I do actually think Kessler’s going to do it. I think he’s going to out-box him.”

Fury sees Kessler whipping Froch, but still ending up losing the fight after getting jobbed on the decision.
