Kessler: Froch’s power won’t help him on May 25th

kessler434By Scott Gilfoid: WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) isn’t worried about IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch’s long reach or big power in their fight on May 25th.

Kessler plans on whipping Froch just like he did three years ago when he got the better of him in the Super Six tournament in Herning, Denmark.

Kessler was able to get inside Froch’s long reach and pound him with accurate combinations that had Froch reeling each time the two would come together for an exchange.

Kessler said to RingTV “He [Froch] punches very hard; he has a lot of power, but it won’t help him on May 25…Carl, I’ll beat you again.”

Yes, I agree with Kessler. He’ll definitely beat Froch again, and the only way he doesn’t beat him again is if we see a controversial decision. Other than that, Froch is going to lose this fight.

Froch is the same guy that Kessler beat three years ago and Andre Ward beat two years ago, only he’s not quite what he was back then. There’s been some aging that has gone on since those fights and I don’t expect him to be as good as he was back then, even though he still wasn’t good enough to get the win.

For Kessler to whip Froch again all he has to do is get inside his long reach and it’ll be an easy fight from there. Kessler just has to make sure he doesn’t repeat the same mistakes that guys like Lucian Bute, Yusaf Mack and Arthur Abraham made in staying on the outside and letting Froch use his long reach to dominate the action.

Those guys fought dumb fights and that’s why they lost to Froch. They obviously didn’t study Froch’s losses to Ward, Kessler and his fight with Andre Dirrrell because those three fights were clear blueprints in how to beat Froch.
