Katsidis wants a rematch with Juan Diaz – News
By Sean McDaniel: Michael Katsidis (26-2, 21 KO’s), the World Boxing Organization lightweight champion, announced recently that he wants a rematch with Juan Diaz (35-3, 17 KO’s) on March 27th. Katsidis, 29, lost a 2 round split decision to Diaz in September 2008 in a fight that Katsidis fought very passively in. Things have changed since then, most notably with Diaz losing two out of his last three fights while Katsidis has won his last three fights.
Katsidis wants to fight Mundine – News
By Jim Dower: For what it’s worth, World Boxing Organization interim lightweight champion Michael Katsidis (26-2, 21 KO’s) wants a shot against former WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine (38-3, 23 KO’s). This must be an Australian thing, because although the 29-year-old Katsidis is a tough fighter and powerful for a lightweight, he would seem to be way too small to beat a fighter the size of Mundine.
Katsidis ruins Summer showdown by refusing to wait for Marquez to fight Hatton
By Michael Taylor: A few weeks ago Juan Manuel Marquez told the public that he would be returning to Las Vegas on May 1st. No opponent had been named, but there were big possibilities that he would clash with Ricky Hatton at Light Welterweight in a summer showdown. Golden Boy Promotions had told boxingscene that Michael Katsidis had told them he would give Marquez more time to fight Ricky Hatton. Katsidis is the World Boxing Organization interim lightweight champion making him the number #1 contender for Marquez’s WBO Lightweight title.
Super Six Lightweights: Part 3
By Peter Wells: Well there have been many comments saying Kevin Mitchell shouldn’t be in here, but the reason I slotted him in is because he is now the WBO number one challenger, and would be ready for a step up. Now I’m onto the final fights of the group stage and here is how it’ll go:

Marquez Must Fight Katsidis or Lose his WBO Lightweight title – News
By Eric Thomas: With his win 12-round split decision victory last Saturday night over Vicente Escobedo (21-2, 13 KO’s) on the undercard of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Juan Manuel Marquez, Australian knockout artist Michael Katsidis (26-2, 21 KO’s) captures the World Boxing Organization interim lightweight title and forces an uncomfortable situation for the 36-year-old Marquez whether he’ll either have to fight Katsidis next for the WBO title or else have the title stripped from him.

Should the Mayweather-Marquez Card Be Sold at a Discount?
By Chris Williams: With only a month to go before the September 19th catch weight clash between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez, the interest in the fight looks to be very low among boxing fans, even though an effort was made to spruce up the card by adding Zab Judah, Chris John, Michael Katisidis and Vicente Escobedo to the undercard. Those fighters likely won’t do much to get attention from boxing fans in this economy, because none of those boxers are huge stars.
The Mayweather-Marquez Undercard Not that Great
By Chris Williams: While some boxing fans are excited about the undercard of the September 19th fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada, I’m not one of them or close to being one of them. I see nothing but a bunch of faded stars and huge mismatches on the card and it doesn’t make me want to lay out the bread to purchase the fight on PPV.
