Is Mayweather Next For the Hatton-Pacquiao Winner?

mayweather456238452By Manuel Perez: With the Manny Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton looking as if it’s back on course (at least for now) for May 2nd, the big question is who will the winner choose to fight in the next fight? For Hatton, it’s an easy answer. He wants to gain revenge for his 10th round TKO loss to Mayweather in December 2007, and he’d likely go after him immediately if Ricky ends up defeating Manny on May 2nd. In Pacquiao’s case, the answer’s not that simple.

Hatton-Pacquiao Fight To Go Ahead On May 2nd

pac46346By Jason Kim: The May 2nd bout between Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao looks like it’s set to go ahead after Manny agreed to the 52-48 purse split and signed & faxed the contract to Top Rank. The fight had previously been held back after Pacquiao was unhappy with the purse split and wanted a 60-40 split rather than 50-50. 52-48 was soon offered by Hatton’s team, but Pacquiao, still not satisfied, held out for a bigger slice of the pie.

Pacquiao Still Interested in Hatton Bout

pacquiao5324By Jason Kim: Quick to conduct some damage control, Manny Pacquiao had this to say about the failed negotiation process with Ricky Hatton: “I want to fight Ricky Hatton if the terms are right and fair. Now, I say to Ricky Hatton, king of the 140lb division, lets fight without the middlemen. You called me out, now I say we fight.” However, it looks as if Pacquiao is too late now, because Hatton has given up on him already and is moving on to other opponents, specifically Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya.

Where Does Pacquiao Go Now?

pac42445By Dave Lahr: With Ricky Hatton walking away from a fight with Manny Pacquiao due to a disagreement over the purse split, where does Manny go from here? The Hatton fight was a perfect fight after Manny’s fight with De La Hoya, which netted Pacquiao a big payday. Manny would have received another big day if he had settled for 50% split with Hatton instead of asking for 60.

Hatton Turning His Back On Pacquiao Fight

hat674546By Scott Gilfoid: I can’t tell you how happy I am. Finally, Ricky Hatton is standing on his hind legs and showing some backbone by getting ready to walk away from his May 2nd fight with Manny Pacquiao. I’m proud of him. He should have done it a long time ago as soon as Pacquiao came up with the ridiculous request for the larger 60-40 split instead of the 50-50, which the two had originally been the agreed upon split at the start of negotiations.

Hatton Should Pull Out and Move On

hatton3243536By Scott Gilfoid: I think I speak for most people when I say that Ricky Hatton needs to summon what’s left of his dignity and tell Manny Pacquiao to forget about fighting him and move onto another opponent. I can’t believe Hatton is even wasting his time lowering himself to even consider accepting anything less than a 50-50 purse split deal with Manny. If Hatton wants any self respect left after this mess, he needs to immediately put his foot down and walk away.

Pacquiao Not Interested In 52-48 Split, But May Accept 55-45

hatton4646434By Eric Thomas: According to the latest word in the news, Manny Pacquiao is reportedly not interested in taking the 52-48 purse split offer made from Ricky Hatton. At a recent press conference, Pacquiao said that he’s looking at a higher figure than the 52-48 purse split and might agree to a 55-45 split. It’s unclear whether Hatton would be willing to accept that offer, however. He has other options available to him and he can easily step away from this fight and go elsewhere rather than accept a purse split that he feels is unfair.

Hatton Ready To Choose Another Opponent – Boxing News

Pacquiao Still Firm With 60-40 Split, Gives Hatton Until February to Accept Deal

pac45344546By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it looks as if Manny Pacquiao is still set on wanting to get the 60-40 purse split, despite media reports saying that he was agreeable to a 50-50 split with Ricky Hatton for their May 2nd fight in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to ABA-CBN News, Pacquiao, 30, hasn’t budged from his wanting to get the 60-40 percentage and has apparently given Hatton’s management team until February to accept the deal. If Hatton doesn’t take the deal by then, Pacquiao will be seeking out another opponent for his fight.
