By Chris Williams: I can’t say I’m at all impressed with the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Joshua Clottey fight on March 13th, at the Dallas Cowboy stadium. It was announced today that the following fights will be taking place on the undercard: middleweight John Duddy vs. Michael Medina, welterweight Jose Luis Castillo vs. Alfonso Gomez, super bantamweight Roberto Marroquin vs. TBA, super bantamweight Salvador Sanchez vs. TBA.

By Dave Lahr: You can almost guarantee one thing when World Boxing Association welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao fights. His trainer Freddie Roach will predict a knockout win sooner or later in the weeks/months leading up to the bout. It’s almost a given. Roach usually starts with a prediction that Pacquiao will win by a decision and then changes over shortly after with a knockout prediction. And then as the weeks go by, Roach moves his prediction to earlier and earlier rounds until arriving at a figure between the first and third rounds.

By Esteban Garduno: World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 KO’s) has been named Fighter of the Year for 2009 for his wins over Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.
The voting was done by the Boxing Writers Association of America. Also, Pacquiao has been selected as the Fighter of the Decade – 2000-2009.
Pacquiao-Clottey: How come nobody is talking about this fight anymore?
By Dave Lahr: I don’t know if Manny Pacquiao fans are noticing or not, but no one is talking about the Pacquiao-Clottey fight anymore. If you look at the internet boxing forums, very few fans are discussing the Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight. That’s a bad sign. It shows to me that this is a poor match up. I think Pacquiao’s selling power will be tested for this fight. This is a bout that is lopsided to begin with going in the fight with the much more popular and talented Pacquiao facing Clottey, an obscure fighter who is coming off of a loss to recent Pacquiao victim Miguel Cotto.

Mosley says he’ll go after Pacquiao after Mayweather fight
By Jason Kim: In an article at AOL Boxing Fanhouse, WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KO’s) says “Then after I fight Floyd Mayweather, I’ll go ahead and fight Pacquiao.” Mosley, 38, is convinced that he’ll beat Mayweather on May 1st at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas. Mosley says “He [Mayweather] got pushed into this fight. He really didn’t want it. I can’t wait to get into the ring and sink my teeth in this fight.”

By Dave Lahr: If this was a chess match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, Floyd would have knocked off Pacquiao’s king with his latest move of setting up a May 1st bout against World Boxing Association welterweight champion Shane Mosley. In contrast, Pacquiao will have to settle for fighting former IBF welterweight champion Joshua Clottey, who is coming off of a recent loss to Miguel Cotto. There’s really no comparison between the Mayweather-Mosley and the Pacquiao-Clottey fight.

By Dave Lahr: World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao is reportedly having his way with an 0-6 sparring partner Bryan Brooks, according to GMA News. Apparently, Pacquiao hurt the 40-year-old Brooks on several occasions and Manny’s trainer, Freddie Roach, is questioning whether to bring Brooks back for more punishment at the Wild Card Gym, in Los Angeles. “I don’t think I’m going to bring him [Brooks] back,” Roach said. “He got hurt a few times. Manny was too much for him.”
