Roger Mayweather: “I Know he [Floyd] can knock him [Pacquiao] out”

Image: Roger Mayweather: “I Know he [Floyd] can knock him [Pacquiao] out”By Dave Lahr: Roger Mayweather, the trainer and uncle of unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr., thinks that Floyd can knock out World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao when/if they fight in November. Roger also thinks that Floyd deserves a 60-40 split of the revenue for the proposed November 13th fight. However, Roger also likes the idea of the winner of the fight getting 60% and the loser 40%. However, that’s something that Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum won’t likely agree to unfortunately.

Prediction: Pacquiao’s next three opponents – Cotto, Margarito and Chavez Jr.

Image: Prediction: Pacquiao's next three opponents - Cotto, Margarito and Chavez Jr.By Dave Lahr: This is hilarious. Instead of fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr., and giving boxing fans what they want to see, Manny Pacquiao is probably going to be put back in with Miguel Cotto in a fight that few people want to see, aside from Cotto fans. But it doesn’t end there.

Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has said recently that he’ll try to match Pacquiao up with Mayweather in early 2011. I don’t buy that. The last time I checked, Mayweather is an awesome fighter who is capable of beating Pacquiao and ending the gravy train all at once. Mayweather also doesn’t fight for Top Rank, so the Mayweather-Pacquiao isn’t happening in early 2011.

Is Donaire another Pacquiao?

by Jason Kim: There has been comparisons between Nonito Donaire (23-1, 15 KO’s) and Manny Pacquiao for the past year or so, with some boxing fans feeling that Donaire can follow in Pacquiao’s big footsteps while others think that Donaire doesn’t have the toughness, the build or the talent to come even close to what Pacquiao has accomplished thus far.

Marley says there’s an 80% chance Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will happen

Image: Marley says there's an 80% chance Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will happenBy Jason Kim: Writer Michael Marley thinks that there’s an 80% chance that the mega fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will be taking place on November 13th. In an article at Examiner.com, Marley says “As of July 4, I say it’s an 80% chance Mayweather-Pacquiao is on for November 13th in Las Vegas. There’s a 10 percent chance both Money May and Pacman fight someone else and not each other in their next fight.” Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has set a July 15th deadline for Mayweather to say whether or not he’ll agree to fight Pacquiao. If not, then Arum will go ahead and substitute either Miguel Cotto or Antonio Margarito in as replacements for Mayweather.

Juan Manuel Marquez an option for Pacquiao if Mayweather fight doesn’t take place

Image: Juan Manuel Marquez an option for Pacquiao if Mayweather fight doesn’t take placeBy Dan Ambrose: There’s a bright side to the potential mega fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. (41-0, 25 KO’s) and Manny Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 KO’s) not being made. If this fight doesn’t happen, then Pacquiao could end up fighting a third rubber match against WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (50-5-1, 37 KO’s), who has fought Pacquiao twice already and given him all kinds of problems.

Image: Arum willing to wait for Mayweather-Pacquiao bout in 2011 – NewsBy Sean McDaniel: If Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is unable to get the mega fight that he wants between his fighter World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 KO’s) and unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. (41-0, 25 KO’s), then Arum is willing to wait until 2011 for the mega to take place. In the meantime, Arum will keep the 31-year-old Pacquiao busy fighting his Top Rank stars WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto and former two-time welterweight champion Antonio Margarito.

Did Pacquiao retire Hatton?

Image: Did Pacquiao retire Hatton?By William Mackay: It’s been ages sine Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) last fought. In fact, it’s been 14 months since Hatton was blasted into unconsciousness in a 2nd round knockout loss to Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd, 2009. I would have never guessed in a million years that Hatton would be knocked out so easily by Pacquiao.

By Jason Kim: Former IBF/WBA welterweight champion Antonio Margarito (38-6, 27 KO’s) is in a prime position to get a shot at either WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto or possibly WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao next. Margarito’s promoter Bob Arum would like to match the 32-year-old Margarito up against either of his two biggest fighters Cotto or Pacquiao.

Will Cotto-Pacquiao II do as well on PPV as last time?

Image: Will Cotto-Pacquiao II do as well on PPV as last time?By Jason Kim: Given how one-sided their fight was last year in November, it seems almost ridiculous that Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao are being matched up against each other again so soon. It’s only been eight since Cotto and Pacquiao have fought, and yet it’s looking more and more like Cotto and Pacquiao will be going at it again in what will likely be as one-sided a fight as the first time. Pacquiao dominated early and often, knocking Cotto around the ring, reddening his face and doing anything he wanted to in the ring. However, the bout did well on pay-per-view, producing 1.25 million buys.
