Bute not worried about being underdog to Pascal

bute563By Allan Fox: Former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (31-1, 24 KO’s) isn’t worried in the least about him being the underdog for his fight this Saturday night against Jean Pascal (28-2-1, 17 KO’s) for their fight at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Bute, 33, sees this as the first time in his career that he’s been an underdog, but he expects it due to his stoppage loss to Carl Froch in May of 2012 and his less than impression showing in beating Denis Grachev in his last fight in November 2012. Pascal has been fighting better than Bute recently, albeit against weak opposition.

My Two Cents: Pascal vs Bute

bute3434By Jay McIntyre:

Setting

When: Saturday, January 18th, 2014
Where: Bell Centre, Montreal, Canada
Who: Jean Pascal vs Lucien Bute
What’s at stake?: WBC Diamond light-heavyweight title (for whatever that’s worth)

Introduction

It is a fight that has lost some of its significance. Indeed, had it happened several years ago, it would have been a very worthy pay per view draw. Nevertheless, on January 18th, Jean Pascal and Lucien Bute will finally meet in Montreal – a turf war of sorts in one of the oldest cities in North America that both men call home.

Bute focused and ready for Pascal fight on Saturday night

bute454By Eric Thomas: NABF light heavyweight champion Lucian Bute (31-1, 24 KO’s) is ready to defend his title on Saturday night against Jean Pascal (28-2-1, 17 KO’s) in what should be an exciting fight at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Bute has been out of action because of an injured hand in 2013, and it’s taken him a little bit longer than he expected to get back in the ring.

Bute has totally healed and he feels 100 percent ready for this match-up. He’s seen a lot of Pascal’s fights over the years, and knows exactly how to beat to him. On Saturday, Bute will show whether he can actually do that.

Pascal faces Bute in a battle between guys fighting for relevancy

pascal3423By Dan Ambrose: In a battle of aging Canadian based fighters just trying to stay relevant, Jean Pascal (28-2-1, 17 KO’s) will be fighting NABF light heavyweight champion Lucian Bute (31-1, 24 KO’s) on Saturday in a fight that will be shown on Showtime from the Bell Centre, Montreal, in Canada.

Both guys don’t have a lot of defeats on their resumes, but they’ve been kind of forgotten about by boxing fans due to their time off from boxing from injuries. Pascal only fought once in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Bute didn’t fight at all last year, and in his two fights in 2012, he looked like a shot fighter. Froch stopped Bute in the 5th round in May of 2012, and then Bute had a lot of problems in beating fringe contender Denis Grachev in November of 2012.

Bute: Pascal won’t be able to match the pace I set

bute56By Allan Fox: Former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (31-1, 24 KO’s) plans on setting a fast pace and wearing down the 31-year-old former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (28-2-1, 17 KO’s) in their scheduled 12 round bout next month on January 18th at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Canada. Bute, 33, will be defending his NABF light heavyweight title.

Bute has noticed that Pascal tends to wear down in the 2nd half of his fights when his opponents are able to put pressure on him. We saw this in Pascal’s losses to Carl Froch and Bernard Hopkins. However, it’s not easy to be able to stay in there with Pascal until he gets to the point where he’s tiring because of his power and quick hands.

Stevenson looking past Bellew; wants Bute-Pascal winner

stevenson5By Scott Gilfoid: Tony Bellew (20-1-1, 12 KO’s) may be the next guy to be facing WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (22-1, 19 KO’s) in early 2014, but Stevenson isn’t thinking too much about the Bellew fight.

Instead, Stevenson is highly interested in the January 18th fight between fellow Canadian based fighters Lucian Bute (31-1, 24 KO’s) and Jean Pascal (28-2-1, 17 KO’s) at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

That’s the much bigger fight for Stevenson then a simple title defense against Bellew, who most casual Canadian fans have never even heard of.

Lucian Bute vs. Jean Pascal fight to take place on January 18th

bute2By Scott Gilfoid: The rescheduled fight between former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (31-1, 24 KO’s) and former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (27-2-1, 16 KO’s) will be taking place on January 18th, according to RingTV.

The two were supposed to meet on May 25th, but unfortunately the talented 33-year-old Bute hurt his left hand while training, and that wiped out that fight date.

At any rate, contracts are signed for their fight in January, and now all they’ve got to do is start getting ready at some point.

Hopkins wants Bute or Froch after Murat bout

hopkins_wright2224By Allan Fox: IBF light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (53-6-2, 32 KO’s) is targeting IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch or former IBF super middleweight champ Lucian Bute for later this year if Hopkins can get past his mandatory challenger Karo Murat (25-1-1, 15 KO’s) next month on July 13th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Hopkins sees the Froch and Bute fight as the biggest money fights out there for him right now. He’s not interested in fighting the likes of Chad Dawson, Nathan Cleverly and Beibut Shumenov or moving up to cruiserweight to fight their champions because the money isn’t as good.

Bute-Pascal rescheduled for December 7th

bute3232By Scott Gilfoid: The postponed fight between former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (31-1, 24 KO’s) and former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (27-2-1, 16 KO’s) has two dates that their promoters are looking at for the fight.

They’re looking at either December 7th or January 25th and they’ll be staging it at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Most likely the fight will take place on the December 7th date.

The fight had to be postponed from the original date of May 25th after Bute injured his left hand while training. Injury made it necessary for Bute to have surgery on his hand to remove the bone chips that littered inside of his hand.
