Roach, 55, has been training Postol for the past two fights, and he’s now facing the toughest opponent of his career in #1 WBC Lucas Matthysse (37-3, 34 KOs) in 10 days from now on October 3rd in a fight televised on HBO World Championship Boxing at the StubHub Center, in Carson, California.

Judah to fight on September 10th, wants Matthysse rematch

judah4345By Dan Ambrose: The soon to be 38-year-old Zab Judah (42-9, 29 KOs) will be launching a comeback on September 10th on Premier Boxing Champions on CBS in a fight against an opponent still to be determined in New York. Judah hasn’t fought in almost two years since losing a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision to Paulie Malignaggi in December 2013.

Judah couldn’t pull the trigger on his shots in that fight, and he looked completely over-the-hill. Judah says the time that he’s had out of the ring since then has him feeling fresh, and he says he wants to fight a rematch against the big punching Lucas Matthysse after he takes a couple of tune-up bouts.

It’s unclear how Matthysse is going to be able to deal with Postol’s 4 ½” height advantage when the two fighters get inside the ring on October 3rd to fight for the vacant WBC light welterweight title on Showtime Championship Boxing from the StubHub Center, in Carson, California.

Matthysse previously fought for the WBC 140lb title when he faced former champion Danny Garcia in September 2013. However, Matthysse suffered an eye injury in the first half of the fight, and wasn’t able to fight as effectively in the last six rounds due to the injury, the low blows, holding and moving that Garcia used.

The Postol-Matthysse fight will be for the vacant WBC World light welterweight title that was recently stripped from Danny Garcia, and the fight will be staged at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

It’s a good fight matching the hard hitting Argentinian Matthysse against the unbeaten Ukrainian Postol. Its two different styles that we’re going to be seeing. Postol is a tall 5’11” known for his high volume punch output.

Postol vs. Matthysse has been ordered by the World Boxing Council to fight for the vacant WBC 140 pound title that was recently stripped from champion Danny Garcia, who had failed to defend the belt for well over a year.

Garcia had just been sitting on the title while taking one catch-weight fight after another in the welterweight division.
