Golovkin: Brook’s boxing IQ makes him a test for me

Image: Golovkin: Brook’s boxing IQ makes him a test for me

By Eric Baldwin: Kell Brook’s boxing IQ is what makes him the biggest threat to beating IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in their fight on September 10, according to the Kazakhstan fighter. Golovkin is less worried about Brook’s size with him weigh-in 176lbs at their recent 30-day weigh-in. Golovkin feels he’ll be able to deal with Brook’s weight.

Besides Brook’s boxing IQ, Golovkin also sees the fact that the fight is taking place in the UK as being something that could make Brook a threat to beating him. The crowd will be on Brook’s side in this fight, and Golovkin will need to find a way to overcome the large pro-Brook crowd so that he can take the fight fans out of the equation before it becomes a real problem.

Spence’s promoter doubts Brook will return to 147

brook111

By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten welterweight talent Errol Spence’s promoter Lou Dibella says he doubts that Kell Brook will return to the 147lb division to defend his International Boxing Federation title after he faces IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in their fight next month on September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Dibella says he’s hearing that Brook likely won’t try and come back down to welterweight after the Golovkin fight. However, Dibella says that if Brook does choose to come back down to defend his IBF belt, he’ll have as many problems against Spence as he will against Golovkin at 160.

No matter what happens in the 30-year-old Brook’s fight against Golovkin next month, Brook will need to make a decision quickly whether he’s going to remain at 160 or move back down to the welterweight division to defend his IBF strap. The IBF is going to need to hear Brook’s decision quickly, because they’ll be ready to order Spence to fight for the vacant IBF title against the contender that is selected by the IBF.

Gennady Golovkin: An Unbiased View

golovkin633

By James Le Blanc: It started sometime early this year. HBO announced Andre Ward had signed a 3 fight contract with stipulations that he would be moving up and facing Sergey Kovalev in late 2016. Jim Lampley said something that stuck out to me.

While the rest of the boxing world was appreciating Andre Wards move after years of inconsistent activity, Lampley’s statement was “The fans can’t wait for it, Kovalev can’t wait for it, Ward will wait for the right time, that’s who he is.” Hashtag SHADE.

Sanchez expects Golovkin to obliterate Brook

1-golovkin (2)

By Scott Gilfoid: Kell Brook is really out of his class in more ways than one in his coming fight against Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) on September 10. While Brook is moving up two entire divisions for this fight, which would make his job hard enough, he’s also facing what could be the hardest puncher in the 160lb division. That’s bad for Brook (36-0, 25 KOs), because he’s been dining on weak fodder opposition for the most part for the last 12 years of his pro career.

Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez sees Brook getting smashed to bits early on when he tries to use his new bulk to trade with Golovkin in their fight at the O2 Arena in London, England. Sanchez thinks that the pro-Brook crowd will make him brave, and he’ll want to battle Triple G in a toe-to-toe brawl to please his adoring fans.

That in turn will lead to Brook’s worse nightmares coming true with him getting smashed fairly quickly. Sanchez sees Brook going down for the final count by the 5th. He can’t see Brook lasting past round five, especially with all that weight that he’s put on lately.

Brook weighed in at 176lbs during the World Boxing Council’s mandated 30-day weight check this month. Sanchez doesn’t see that weight going anywhere. I mean, Brook will take off 16 of the pounds to get down to 160lbs for the weigh-in on September 9, but then he’ll promptly put the weight back on in a hurry and then some in the 24 hours before the fight. Heck, we might even see Brook rehydrate a little too much by going past the weight he took off from 176. Fighters do that accidentally when they go overboard with their rehydrating.

Golovkin says Brook won’t last long if he brawls

Image: Golovkin says Brook won’t last long if he brawls

By Scott Gilfoid: The bulked up Kell Brook might want to think twice about going out and brawling with Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in their fight next month, because the Kazakhstan fighter thinks he won’t last very long if he chooses that strategy. Golovkin has already said he doesn’t think all the weight that Brook has put on will help him in this fight.

Brook has bulked up to 176lbs in hopes that his extra size will help him be competitive with the 5’10 ½” Golovkin on the night. Both Golovkin and his trainer Abel Sanchez think that’s a fail on Brook’s part. Indeed, Sanchez believes that the added weight that Brook has put on will lead to him getting knocked out faster in this fight.

Loeffler wants Froch for Golovkin after Brook

froch761

By Scott Gilfoid: If former super middleweight champion Carl Froch is tired of yapping on the sidelines about boxing, he’s got a big money match against unbeaten IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) waiting for him. Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler says he’s open to making a fight between Golovkin and the 39-year-old Froch after the Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) fight next month on September 10.

Loeffler says that he’d be willing to match Golovkin against either Froch or Chris Eubank Jr. if everything goes right with the Brook fight next month at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Golovkin’s trainer: Canelo will fight GGG when he’s 60-years-old

Image: Golovkin’s trainer: Canelo will fight GGG when he’s 60-years-old

By Dan Ambrose: Despite Golden Boy Promotions head honcho Oscar De La Hoya saying that a fight between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO middleweight champion Gennady “GGG: Golovkin will take place in the fall of 2017, Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez doesn’t see that happening at all. Sanchez believes that Golden Boy is going to wait until Golovkin is 60-years-old before they make that fight.

Obviously, Sanchez is just joking, but what he seems to be saying is that Golden Boy will wait for Golovkin to age enough to where they feel that they have the advantage I putting their franchise fighter Canelo in with him so that it’s him in a strong position to win, not Golovkin.

Golovkin slams Canelo, says fight won’t happen in 2017

1-golovkin (2)

By Dan Ambrose: Gennady “GGG” Golovkin says he doubts that Mexican star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will fight him in 2017 like his promoters at Golden Boy Promotions said he would. Instead, IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Golovkin believes that a fight between them could take place in five years, which would make the Kazakhstan fighter 39-years-old. Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) doesn’t see Canelo (47-1-1, 33 KOs) as being serious about wanting to fight him right now. He sees the 26-year-old Canelo as being motivated by business rather than for the sport.

As far as his next opponent Kell Brook goes, Golovkin thinks he’s too heavy at 176, and he thinks it won’t be too much for him to deal with on September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, England. Golovkin sees Brook’s bulking up as a strategy from his team. He says he’s currently at 165lbs, and he’s feeling very good.

“A long time ago, we trained together. I had a lot of respect for him,” Golovkin said about Canelo. “Right now, it’s just business. He showed his face. He showed strategy of Golden Boy. It’s not respect. This is not business. Eubank is like Canelo. He’s just talking. It’s just show. It’s not real. He’s not serious, just commercial, like circus; so many clowns here, just dancing. As soon as he was given contract, it’s ‘no.’ Too much talking. He knows he’s not fighting me. He knows. Why you talking? Why you say you’re calling me tomorrow? He’s not serious. I don’t want talking. These are just clowns. I know Canelo is not ready until next year; maybe in five years later. Maybe just like that,” said Golovkin.

Golovkin: Froch is like a clown, he talks too much

golovkin411

By Scott Gilfoid: Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) says he thought it was funny some of the negative comments former super middleweight champion Carl Froch made about him this past in the media. Froch apparently said that Golovkin needs to move up in weight and fight guys his own size despite the fact that he’s a small middleweight that could actually fight at 154lb if he wanted to.

Golovkin said that he thinks Froch talks too much and that he’s a clown. Golovkin has no interested in fighting Froch right now because he sees him as finished and retired from boxing. Golovkin’s main focus is on his September 10 fight against Britain’s Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Nelson: Brook should jump on Golovkin straightaway

Image: Nelson: Brook should jump on Golovkin straightaway

By Scott Gilfoid: Former world champion Johnny Nelson thinks that Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) should attack IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) straightaway in their fight on September 10, because he believes that his best chance of winning the contest is to not fight passively.

Nelson notes that two of Golovkin’s past knockout victims, Matthew Macklin and Martin Murray, were forced onto the back foot, and they were eventually knocked out by the Kazakhstan fighter. Nelson believes that it would have been different if Murray and Macklin had gone straight into the teeth of Golovkin’s offense to return fire rather than run and spoil the way they did.
