Keith Thurman wants Canelo Alvarez if he gets past Zaveck on Saturday

thurman54By Dan Ambrose: Among the top fighters that unbeaten Keith Thurman (19-0, 18 KO’s) wants to fight in the near future is WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) if Thurman can get past former IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck (32-2, 18 KO’s) on Saturday night in their WBO welterweight eliminator bout on HBO at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

Besides Canelo, Thurman also wants to fight WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley, and the winner of the fight between IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander and Kell Brook. Bradley is the more realistic option for Thurman because he’ll be Bradley’s mandatory challenger if he beats Zaveck tomorrow night. However, getting Bradley to agree to fight him may takes ages, and Thurman can’t just sit idle waiting for Bradley to finally face him.

Keith Thurman: I want Bradley, Malignaggi, Alexander or Brook next after Zaveck

thurman542By Scott Gilfoid: Undefeated #4 WBA welterweight contender Keith “One Time” Thurman (19-0, 18 KO’s) says he’s gunning for WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley, WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi or the winner of the IBF clash between 147 lb. champion Devon Alexander and Kell Brook, if Thurman can get past former IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck (32-2, 18 KO’s) this Saturday night in their WBO welterweight eliminator bout at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Thurman said to RingTV “I look forward to a fight against Tim Bradley…Paulie Malignaggi, the winner of Devon Alexander-Brook. So if Devon Alexander loses to Kell Brook, I would love to fight Kell Brook.”

Thurman: I’m going to outclass Zaveck

thurman432By Allan Fox: Undefeated welterweight contender Keith Thurman (19-0, 18 KO’s) sees himself totally dominated former IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck (32-2, 18 KO’s) on Saturday night in their WBO welterweight title eliminator bout on the undercard of the Bernard Hopkin vs. Tavoris Cloud bout on HBO at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

Thurman said “I know I am prepared. I am going to outclass him. I am confident I can steal rounds by getting inside and throwing punches.”

It’s interesting that Thurman is talking of stealing rounds, as if that’s what he would have to do in order to win the fight. Thurman isn’t the type that just tries to get inside and steal rounds.

Canelo, Thurman, Broner, Crawford- the Future Faces of Boxing?

thurman74By Lance Lank: Just a couple years ago it seemed that after Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao retired from the sport of boxing that there would be no new stars. That there would be no one that the public would be interested in, let alone pay money to see fight on PPV cards.

The only rising star seemed to be Andre Ward, but having already easily beaten every top contender at 168 and the best at 175 there were no opponents left that might pose the slightest problem to the super middleweight king. That much has stayed true. Sure, Ward can move up to 175 and fight Tavoris Cloud, but that might not seem so good if Cloud gets beat by the ageless wonder Bernard Hopkins this Saturday.

Keith Thurman: Why “One Time” is the Real Deal

thurman53by James Le Blanc: Keith “One Time” Thurman (19-0, 18 KO’s) has an opportunity yet again on HBO this weekend to win over some fans as well as gain some more respect from top fighters in the welterweight division.  Some say Keith is overrated and clever match making has put Thurman in the position to score most of his fights by KO. It appears as though HBO and Golden Boy Promotions are shoving an unproven Thurman down our throats like they did Andre Berto, who has proven to be far from elite, losing 2 of his last 3 fights and being dropped 4 times altogether.

Thurman was criticized last year for calling out the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Paulie mMlignaggi, and Timothy Bradley all belt holders in the Welterweight division. But here are a few things that you may not know about Thurman.

Keith Thurman vs. Jan Zaveck this Saturday on 3/9, in Brooklyn, New York

thurman42By Dan Ambrose: This Saturday night unbeaten knockout artist Keith Thurman (19-0, 18 KO’s) faces former IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck (32-2, 18 KO’s) in a WBO 147 lb. title eliminator bout on HBO at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA. The winner of this match-up becomes the mandatory challenger for WBO welterweight title, which is currently held by Tim Bradley.

The Thurman-Zaveck winner will likely have to wait ages before they eventually do get a shot at the WBO belt holder, and it’s highly unlikely that Bradley will still be the title holder by then because his promoter has him in line for a number of tough fights this year, and next year.

Keith Thurman vs. Jan Zaveck in WBO 147 lb. title eliminator on 3/9

thurman32By Dan Ambrose: Former IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck (32-2, 18 KO’s) and unbeaten #4 WBA Keith Thurman (19-0, 18 KO’s) will be battling it out on March 9th in a WBO welterweight title eliminator bout at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The winner of the fight becomes the mandatory challenger for WBO 147 lb. champion Timothy Bradley.

You have to really like the 24-year-old Thurman’s chances at beating the soon to be 37-year-old Zaveck, and then beating Bradley as well if Thurman can get the fight with him.

Just because Thurman becomes Bradley’s mandatory doesn’t mean Bradley will necessarily face him. For starters, I think Bradley will drag his feet and make Thurman wait for well over a year, and then I see Bradley vacating rather than facing the much bigger 5’11” Thurman.

Keith Thurman vs. Jan Zaveck official for March 9th on Hopkins-Cloud undercard

thurman32423By Dan Ambrose: The match-up between welterweight contenders #1 WBO, #3 IBF, Jan Zaveck (32-2, 18 KO’s) and unbeaten Keith Thurman (19-0, 18 KO’s) is official for the undercard of the Bernard Hopkins – Tavoris Cloud card on March 9th at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

This is potentially a good fight if Zaveck can hold up under the pounding of the bigger, stronger and younger 24-year-old Thurman. Zaveck, 36, is 12 years older, and 3 ½” shorter than the 5’11” Thurman, and that right there could be an obstacle for Zaveck to win.

Keith Thurman looking to become a force at welterweight

thurman542By Ryan Wardle: Keith “One Time” Thurman (19-0, 18 KO’s), the 24 year old welterweight prospect from Clearwater Beach, Florida will climb back into the ring March 9th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. His fight will be part of the undercard for Bernard Hopkins vs. Tavoris Cloud IBF light heavyweight title match.

Thurman will be squaring off against former IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck ( 32-2, 18 KO’s), in a WBO welterweight title eliminator. The winner will become Timothy Bradley’s mandatory challenger, assuming he is victorious in his March 16th bout with Ruslan Provodnikov.

Keith Thurman vs. Jan Zaveck almost done for March 9th in WBO 147 title eliminator

thurman32By Dan Ambrose: Unbeaten welterweight contender Keith Thurman (19-0, 18 KO’s) and former IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck (32-2, 18 KO’s) are close to having a fight set for March 9th, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. The Thurman-Zaveck fight will be a WBO welterweight title eliminator, and it will be taking place on the undercard of the Bernard Hopkins vs. Tavoris Cloud fight card next month on March 9th at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York.

The winner of the Thurman-Zaveck fight will be the mandatory challenger for World Boxing Organization 147 lb. champion Tim Bradley.

Zaveck will be turning 37 next month, and he’s not been active since losing his International Boxing Federation 147 pound title to Andre Berto in September 2011 by a 5th round stoppage. Zaveck, 5’7 1/2”, fought only once in 2012, beating Bethuel Ushona by a 12 round unanimous decision last March.
