PBC on NBC premiere a success with Thurman-Guerrero toe-to-toe

thurman331211By Bill Christian Gabay: It did not start off very well. NBC producers were probably getting a bit anxious what with John Molina Jr. (27-6, 22 KOs) deciding to be Adrien Broner’s (30-1, 22 KOs) punching bag for 12 rounds in their fight last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fans at ringside could be seen on TV looking at their cellphones, talking to their companions or looking other directions away from the ring.

But that bout did go as expected. Molina lost his last 2 fights and was no match for the faster, craftier and more skillful Broner.

Keith Thurman’s CAT scan negative, no fracture to orbital bone

By Dan Ambrose: The CAT scan test on WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman’s head turned up negative for damage from the head-butt he suffered last night in his 12 round unanimous decision win over Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (32-3-1, 18 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Thurman poses a big threat to Mayweather and Pacquiao, says Malignaggi

thurman33By Chris Williams: WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman (25-0, 21 KOs) showed the boxing world that he’s for real last night in beating Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero by an impressive 12 round unanimous decision at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The victory by Thurman has some boxing fans thinking that Thurman is ready to beat Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao. Former two division world champion Paulie Malignaggi isn’t saying that Thurman will beat those two superstars, but he definitely sees him as a big threat to beating both of them due to his power, hand speed and counter punching ability.

Guerrero wants rematch with Thurman

guerrero444688888By Dan Ambrose: Despite taking a punishing 12 round unanimous decision loss last Saturday night to WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman (25-0, 21 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (32-3-1, 18 KOs) says he would like to get a rematch against the hard-hitting 26-year-old Thurman if possible.

Guerrero, 31, thinks he could do things differently in the rematch to improve upon the way he fought last night, starting with using his jab more. Guerrero believes he made a mistake by abandoning his jab early on in the fight and just plodding into Thurman’s shots.

Thurman’s WBA title not mentioned in introduction last night

thurman44By Allan Fox: If you watched last night’s fight between WBA welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (25-0, 21 KOs) and Roberto Guerrero (32-3-1, 18 KOs) on NBC, it was the fact that Thurman’s WBA title wasn’t mentioned at all when he was introduced before the fight.

The announcer only gave Thurman’s name and his ring record as he was walking out to the ring. The fight definitely had Thurman’s WBA title on the line. This has some boxing fans speculating whether the world titles are going to be de-emphasized in Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions series.

Guerrero: Keith Thurman isn’t ready for Mayweather yet

thurman333By Jim Dower: Last night, former two division belt winner Robert Guerrero (32-3-1, 18 KOs) suffered a 12 round unanimous decision defeat at the hands of WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman (25-0, 21 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. In some ways, Thurman gave Guerrero a worse beating than Floyd Mayweather Jr did in his win over Guerrero in May of 2013.

The Thurman-Guerrero fight was a lot more competitive than the Mayweather-Guerrero fight, because Guerrero was able to land his power shots all night long against Thurman. Guerrero rarely missed with his shots. The only thing that made it difficult for Guerrero to land was the movement that Thurman used in the last six rounds.

Keith “Ghost Buster “Thurman destroys “The Ghost“ and does what Mayweather could not do!

guerrero444By Danny Esch: PBC on NBC lived up to the hype with its first show on network T.V. after 30 years of being shifted mainly to HBO, Showtime, and PPV. The pre-fight shows were also great like “Corner to Corner” and PBC “Lights Out on Spike T.V.

Last night Keith Thurman proved a lot of people wrong, he proved that his performance with Leonard Bundu was just a “ONE TIME” thing and that he is a force to be reckoned with in the welterweight division.

Thurman beats Guerrero; Broner defeats Molina

thurman4By Dan Ambrose: WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman (25-0, 21 KOs) successfully defended his title in beating former two division world champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (32-3-1, 18 KOs) on Saturday night in Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions series at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The final judges’ scores were 120-107, 118-109 and 118-108.

Thurman knocked Guerrero down hard in the 9th round from a left hand to the head. Guerrero barely beat the count in getting up at the count of 9. Guerrero took a lot of punishment in the round and wound up suffering a cut on the side of his left eye. The referee Kenny Bayless looked like he was close to stopping it, but Guerrero did a good job of holding on and fighting back to get out of the round.
