This is pretty bad match-up, and if it was the first time for Alvarez you might be able to give the guy a pass just this one.

Why is Arum so protective of his fighters?
By Scott Fitzgerald: Over the last few years it’s become more and more evident that Boxing has lost quite a few fans to MMA due to Boxing’s top promoter’s inability to make the fights the public have been clamouring to see.But what has become more and more prevalent is that Bob Arum who arguably has one of the best stables of fighters under his banner in Top Rank has consistently denied the public a mega fight.
Why? I hear people asking is anyone’s guess but if an educated person with any degree of boxing knowledge reads into why Bob Arum protects his fighters it’s down to all of three reasons.

By Dan Ambrose: The World Boxing Council (WBC) has made WBC Diamond middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (48-2-2, 27 KO’s) the mandatory challenger to WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (45-0-1, 31 KO’s), meaning that the young 25-year-old Chavez Jr. will have to face Martinez next, as long as Martinez wins his March 17th fight against Matthew Macklin.
