Chavez Jr., 23, has been added to the card and surprise, surprise, will be facing another B level fighter, this one Troy Rowland (25-2, 7 KO) in a scheduled 10-round bout.

By Eric Thomas: Unbeaten junior middleweight contender Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (40-0-1, 30 KO’s) will keep moving ahead in 2010, with potential decent money bouts against once beaten middleweight contender John Duddy and if successful against him, Chavez Jr. would then likely be facing World Boxing Council junior middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (44-1-2, 24 KO’s) later in 2010.

By Jim Dower: In perhaps his best performance of his career, unbeaten light middleweight contender Julio Chavez Jr. (40-0-1, 30 KO’s) crushed Jason LeHoullier (21-2-1, 8 KO’s) in a 1st round technical knockout last night to successfully defend his World Boxing Council Latino light middleweight title at the El Palenque de la Feria, Tepic, in Nayarit, Mexico. Chavez Jr., 23, the son of boxing hall of Fame star Julio Cesar Chavez, caught LeHoullier with a tremendous left hook late in the 1st round, knocking LeHoullier to the canvas.

By Dave Lahr: It looks as if light middleweight contender Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (39-0-1, 29 KO’s) could be facing previously unbeaten middleweight contender John Duddy (26-1, 17 KO’s) sometime in 2010, according to the latest boxing news. Promoter Bob Arum is looking at putting the fight together for a fight in the spring of 2010. However, before Chavez and Duddy meet up, they would first be fighting on the same card in December against other opponents.

The bout is scheduled for 10 rounds, which for Chavez Jr. is a good thing, because his questionable stamina likely won’t come into play.

Chavez Jr., 23, is ranked high in the light middleweight division at number #3 in the World Boxing Organization and #4 in the WBC, even though he’s yet to face a top tier opponent.

This will be the first defense for the 31-year-old Romanian transplant champion Diaconu, who now lives and fights out of Canada.
Pacquiao to Fight on October 17th
By Manuel Perez: It appears that Manny Pacquiao is planning on returning to the ring in another five months to fight against a still to be determined opponent on October 17th. While there’s been a ton of stuff from Freddie Roach about Pacquiao fighting Miguel Cotto or Shane Mosley at a catch weight, I don’t see it happening.
