Looking at Pacquiao’s Next Bout

pac4593538By Manuel Perez: Although nothing has yet to be said about who Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent will be, you can bet that it won’t be dangerous fighters like Miguel Cotto or Shane Mosley. There’s no way that Bob Arum is going to let Pacquiao be out in with such risky fighters like these when there’s a potential huge money fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. just down the road.

News – Chavez Jr. Interested in Pacquiao Bout; Valero Doesn’t Want Prescott

By Jim Dower: Undefeated light middleweight contender Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (39-0-1, 29 KOs) is reportedly interested in a fight with Manny Pacquiao and feels that it would be “an honor” to fight him. Chavez Jr., 23, would appear to be the least likely opponent that Pacquiao would be interested in fighting for a number of reasons, starting with Chavez Jr’s size. Julio fights as a light middleweight, and it would probably be quite difficult for him to get down to what would likely be a bout at 140.

Does Chavez Jr. Deserve To Fight Pacquiao, De La Hoya or Duddy?

chavez56535By Chris Williams: Having seen Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (39-0-1, 29 KOs) fight yet another handpicked opponent last weekend against Luciano Cuello (23-1, 10 KOs) in Tijuana, Mexico, I don’t see how Chavez Jr. deserves a fight against Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya or John Duddy. Chavez Jr., 23, struggled mightily with the non-top 15 ranked Cuello, having both his eyes swollen and struggling from the third round on.

Chavez Jr. Defeats Cuello; Humberto Soto Too Much For Davis

soto44442By Manuel Perez: Light middleweight contender Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (39-0-1, 29 KOs) defeated previously undefeated Argentinean Luciano Cuello (23-1, 10 KOs) by a fairly close 10-round decision on Saturday night at the Plaza Monumental Playas, in Tijuana, Mexico. The final judges’ scores were 98-92, 96-94 and 96-95. Like usual Chavez Jr. fights, there was at least one judge that had scores that were far different from the action took place in the ring.

News: Chavez Jr. Wants Bout With Duddy

chavez6835678By Manuel Perez: In the news, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., the son of boxing great Julio Cesar Chavez, wants a fight with undefeated middleweight contender John Duddy (26-0, 17 KOs) in his next fight after Julio finishes up with his opponent for Saturday night Luciano Leonel Cuello (23-0, 10 KOs). Between the three of them, there’s a lot of inflated records with very little substance. However, Duddy, 29, appears to be a level above what I’ve seen of Chavez Jr. (38-0, 29 KOs) in the past couple of years, even if Julio has a slightly better record than Duddy.

Chavez Jr. vs. Cuello; Kevin Johnson Is Coming – Boxing News

This is really starting to get ridiculous. First off, Valuev, aka Frankenstein has no business with the WBA title in the first place. He’s never beaten anyone in the top 10. Since winning the title, he’s defended it against John Ruiz, Monte Barrett, and Evander Holyfield. I mean, this is becoming a joke. And Chagaev, he’s never beaten anyone either other than Valuev, who as I pointed out earlier, should have never had the title in the first place.

Chavez Jr. vs. Cuello on March 28th; Did Jennings Give 100% Against Cotto?

chavez4234142By Manuel Perez: Undefeated light middleweight contender Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (38-0, 29 KOs) will face unbeaten Argentinean Luciano Leonel Cuello (23-0, 10 KOs) on March 28th in Tijuana, Baja California, for the vacant WBO Latino light middleweight title. Chavez, 23, is making a slightly bigger step up from some of the softer opponents that he’s been facing thus far in his six year pro career. Without the luxury of any kind of amateur career to speak of, Chavez Jr. is taking the slow approach to his pro career building up slowly against better fighters in small increments rather than leaps and bounds.

Duddy Takes On Vanda on Saturday – Is Chavez Jr. Next?

duddy4543681By Chris Williams: Light middleweight John Duddy (25-0, 17 KOs) fights journeyman Matt Vanda (39-8, 22 KOs) on Saturday night at the Madison Square Garden, in New York, New York. Both fighters at first glance appear to be on opposite sides of the spectrum, yet Saturday’s fight is likely to be closely contested with Duddy edging Vanda by a close decision. Why should that be when one fighter is ranked high in both the light middleweight and middleweight divisions and sports an unbeaten record?
