By Dan Ambrose: Mikey Garcia (31-0, 26 KO’s) couldn’t make weight for his fight against Juan Manuel Lopez (33-2, 30 KO’s) after coming in at 128 lbs. instead of 126, the weight or the featherweight division.

Mikey Garcia 2 lbs. overweight; Juanma makes weight
By Dan Ambrose: WBO featherweight champion Mikey Garcia (31-0, 26 KO’s) came in 2 whole pounds over the 126 lb. weight limit during today’s weigh-in for his first title defense against Juan Manuel Lopez (33-2, 30 KO’s) on Saturday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Garcia-Lopez: Last chance for Juanma?
By Eric Thomas: This Saturday night Juan Manuel Lopez (33-2, 30 KO’s) will be stepping inside the ring with WBO featherweight champion Mikey Garcia (31-0, 26 KO’s) at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
This is probably the biggest fight that the 29-yer-old Juanma could get right now, but it’s also one of the most dangerous ones for him because he’s lost two out of his last five fights and he looks like a shell of his former self.
Mikey Garcia is a dangerous puncher and an excellent counter puncher. He’s a nightmare fighter for someone like Lopez, who was beaten twice by Mikey victim Orlando Salido. Lopez took beatings both times in those fights and looked pretty well beaten both times.
Mikey Garcia vs. Juan Manuel Lopez Preview
By Peter Wells (twitter @boxingbrains): As Juan Manuel Lopez looks deep into the eyes of Mikey Garcia, he see’s an image of himself 26 months ago. He sees the hot prospect in Garcia, that once lay in himself.
He smiles at every complimentary word aimed towards Garcia, because not too long ago those identical praises were directed at him. But rather than feeling jealous of the favourite, he instead feels sympathy, and a hint of sadness.
Damian Frias vs. Mikael Zewski this Saturday, June 15th on Garcia-Lopez card in Dallas, Texas
MIAMI (June 13, 2013) – Cuban-born welterweight Damian “Devo” Frias (19-7-1, 10 KOs) will be back in his customary role as a potential spoiler Saturday night in Dallas as he takes on undefeated welterweight prospect Mikael Zewski (19-0, 15 KOs) in an eight-round bout at American Airlines Center. Zewski-Frias is on the Mikey Garcia-Juan Manuel Lopez undercard.
Mikey Garcia has the goods to be an all time great!
By Hector Gonzalez: I’m going to say right now, Mikey Garcia is going to be an all time great and there is nothing that the haters can do about it. A seasoned boxing aficionado, one that knows what to look for, should be able to see the goods in this kid and it’s my personal opinion that Mikey is the top prospect in boxing at the moment.
Here are things that I see in Mikey that make him stand out above the rest. Lets look at Victor Ortiz for example, Victor Ortiz was and, in my opinion, still is a great prospect. Ortiz’s downfall though is his footwork, as from the beginning it was notable that he was not able to fight walking backwards or from angles. Mikey doesn’t seem to have that problem, Mikey’s footwork are always in position and shows greatly in his countering ability as he is always in position to counter.
Mikey Garcia v Juan Manuel Lopez: WBO Featherweight World Title
By Sevak Sarkisian: The highly anticipated showdown between WBO champion Mikey Garcia (31-0- 26 KO’s) and Juan Manuel Lopez (33-2-30 KO’s) will take place on June 15th at the American Airlines Center in Dallas Texas. It will be televised live on HBO along with a light welterweight attraction featuring young Terence Crawford (20-0-15KO’s).
The undefeated Mikey Garcia won the WBO title in his last fight against the veteran title holder Orlando Solido at Madison Square Garden. Mikey Garcia is a fundamentally sound fighter and is very well schooled in art of the sweet science.
Mikey Garcia’s nose healed for Juanma clash this Saturday in Dallas, Texas
By Dan Ambrose: WBO featherweight champion Mikey Garcia (31-0, 26 KO’s) had surgery on his broken nose from his win over Orlando Salido last January and his nose is now healed and he’s ready for his fight against former two-division world champion Juan Manuel Lopez (33-2, 30 KO’s) this Saturday, June 15th at the American Airlines Center, in Dallas, Texas, USA. Garcia’s nose may be healed but it’s still going to be a prominent target for Lopez’s big punches and I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if Lopez breaks it again with a big shot.
I just hope that Garcia doesn’t complain to the referee that he can’t breathe through his nose and then the fight gets stopped again.
