By Jason Kim: On July 31st, unbeaten middleweight contender Daniel Jacobs (20-0, 17 KO’s) will be taking his toughest fight of his young career against undefeated Russian Dmitry Pirog (16-0, 13 KO’s) on the undercard of the Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Juan Diaz bout at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

By Eric Thomas: At yesterday’s conference call, WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (50-5-1, 37 KO’s) seemed eager to face Juan Diaz (35-3, 17 KO’s) in a rematch on July 31st at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Marquez, 36, spoke about a number of things, such as he’s still drinking his own urine, he doesn’t plan on leaving the lightweight division after this fight, and badly wants a rematch with Manny Pacquiao.

By William Mackay: Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) plans on traveling to Las Vegas next week to watch the lightweight clash between WBA/WBO champion Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Juan Diaz at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino to get a close look at who the 23-year-old Khan will likely fight next in December.
Diaz vs. Marquez II: Is this rematch really necessary?
By Chris Williams: WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (50-5-1, 37 KO’s) and Juan Diaz (35-3, 17 KO’s) will be fighting a rematch on July 31st at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada. I can’t really see any point in this rematch happening, because the ending of their last fight had a definitive ending with Marquez wearing Diaz down and stopping him in the 9th round with an uppercut.
Diaz-Marquez: The Khan riches await the winner
By William Mackay: With so few stars to fight in the lightweight division, the winner of the July 31st bout between WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (50-5-1, 37 KO’s) and Juan Diaz (35-3, 17 KO’s) will get the good luck of facing WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s), who is waiting in the wings licking his chops at the prospects of fighting one of these smaller lightweights.
Marquez vs. Diaz II: Juan Manuel has big fights ahead of him if he wins this
By Dan Ambrose: WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (50-5-1, 37 KO’s) has a lot to gain by beating Juan Diaz (35-3, 17 KO’s) in their rematch on July 31st at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The rematch in itself is no longer really important, as both fighters have been soundly beaten since their fight last year and much of the boxing public has totally forgotten about their original fight way back in February 2009.
Marquez-Diaz: Juan can try again, but will likely take another terrible beating

Will Khan start fighting good light welterweights after be takes on the Marquez-Diaz winner?
By Sean McDaniel: I’m almost hoping that the winner of the July 31st bout between Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz tell WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan to go pick on someone his own size from his own weight class, the light welterweight division, rather than giving in and taking the good money that will come with a fight against Khan.

Khan’s father, Shah Khan, says that Amir is fine after his release from the Beaumont Hospital in Bolton where he had been for a short stay to recover from the high fever. Khan, 23, will now rest and recover from the illness.
Is Marquez-Diaz II a year too late?
By Dan Ambrose: Had Juan Manuel Marquez (50-5-1, 37 KO’s) and Juan Diaz (35-3, 17 KO’s) fought an immediate rematch last year shortly after their fight in February 2009, this would be a much more appealing bout.
After Marquez and Diaz fought, there was a lot of talk about how exciting their fight was for at least two weeks.
