John Murray wants the Marquez vs. Katsidis winner

Image: John Murray wants the Marquez vs. Katsidis winnerBy Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten lightweight contender John Murray (29-0, 17 KO’s) is really looking past this Saturday’s fight against Ukrainian Andriy Kudryavtsev (34-7, 15 KO’s) at the Robin Park Centre, Wigan, Lancashire. Murray, 25, is hoping to fight the November 27th clash between WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez and WBO lightweight interim champion Michael Katsidis. My advice is for Murray to stick to the guys that he’s been fighting and be happy that he can hold onto his unbeaten record for a little while longer.

Khan sees Murray as an easy fight

By William Mackay: WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) still doesn’t have an opponent picked out for his next fight which should be taking place in November rather than on July 31st. Of the potential opponents mentioned, Michael Katsidis, Joel Casamayor and John Murray, all of them are lightweights rather than fighters in Khan’s current weight class. This should make matters much easier for Khan to shine in his next fight so that he can continue to look good in front of U.S audiences and also look good at home.

By Sean McDaniel: In the latest boxing news, talks are beginning for an exciting fight between WBO lightweight interim champion Michael Katsidis (27-2, 22 KO’s) and British and EBU lightweight champion John Murray (29-0, 17 KO’s). Katsidis, 29, destroyed Brit lightweight contender Kevin Mitchell in a 3rd round TKO on May 15th last month in Upton Park. Murray, 25, saw the fight and didn’t see anything from Katsidis that he felt that he couldn’t handle. In an article at the Manchestereveningnews, Katsidis’ manager Brendon Smith had this to say about a potential fight with John Murray:

John Murray wants fight with Katsidis

Image: John Murray wants fight with KatsidisBy Sean McDaniel: With Kevin Mitchell and Amir Khan not currently showing much interest in fighting British and European Boxing Union lightweight champion John Murray (29-0, 17 KO’s), he is now turning his attention to WBO lightweight interim champion Michael Katsidis (27-2, 22 KO’s) for his next fight. Murray, 25, would like to fight Katsidis in September at the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester, England, where he thinks he can sellout the arena. Murray believes that he can make a name for himself by beating the Australian, the same way that fellow Brit Ricky Hatton made a name for himself in defeating Kostya Tszyu by an 11th round stoppage in 2005.

John Murray wants fights with Khan and Mitchell

Image: John Murray wants fights with Khan and MitchellBy Sean McDaniel: Newly crowned European Boxing Union (EBU) lightweight champion John Murray (29-0, 17 KO’s) wants a fight against either WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan or unbeaten lightweight contender Kevin Mitchell, according to the latest news. Murray, 25, is coming off an 11th round stoppage win over Gary Buckland last Friday night at the Kingsway Leisure Centre, in Cheshire, England. It was a workmanlike performance from the 25-year-old Murray but not one that would lead me to believe that he could beat Mitchell or Khan.
