Calzaghe picks Haye to beat Harrison

By Sean McDaniel: Former IBF/WBA/WBC/WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe is picking World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight champion David Haye (24-1, 22 KO’s) to beat Audley Harrison (27-4, 20 KO’s) next month in their bout on November 13th at the M.E.N. Arena, in Manchester. In an interview at Sky Sports, Calzaghe says “I don’t think Harrison deserves to fight for the title. I see Haye winning all day long. I don’t think Harrison really has a chance. He has a puncher’s chance but he’s not that big of a puncher. So I think Haye will basically win this.”

Joe Calzaghe measured against all-time

by Sam Singh: Cliff Rold, generally speaking, is a respected writer within the boxing world. Rold is a member the Ring Magazine Advisory Panel, the Boxing Writers Association of America and the Yahoo Pound for Pound voting panel.

Despite Rold’s flashy credentials I feel compelled as an avid follower of the sweet science to voice my firm disagreement in response to his recent article on Joe Calzaghe.

It looks like Calzaghe won’t be making a comeback

Image: It looks like Calzaghe won’t be making a comebackBy William Mackay: It’s hard to believe that former super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe (46-0, 32 KO’s) won’t be making a comeback at least for one or two more fights. It’s been two years since Calzaghe, then 36, retired from boxing after beating a washed up 40-year-old Roy Jones Jr. by a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision in November 2008.

Pascal says he wants Hopkins, Calzaghe or Bute next – News

Image: Pascal says he wants Hopkins, Calzaghe or Bute next – NewsBy Dave Lahr: World Boxing Council light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (26-1, 16 KO’s) was elated after escaping with an 11 round technical decision win over former light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (29-1, 17 KO’s) last Saturday night at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Canada. Pascal, 27, was exhausted and getting lit up by Dawson in the 11th round and looking like he was on the verge of being stopped. However, sometimes luck is on your side, as it was surely on Pascal’s side last Saturday night. Just when Dawson was putting on the coup de grace, Pascal turned his head and accidently rammed Dawson in the face, cutting his eye badly.

Joe Calzaghe: Best Boxer Of An Era

Image: Joe Calzaghe: Best Boxer Of An EraBy Tom Graves: Before his retirement in February 2009 as Britain’s only undefeated boxing world champion, Joe Calzaghe was the longest-reigning boxing world champion of the modern era, owning a fight record of 46-0, 32 of which by KO/TKO.

Many people may only know of “The Pride of Wales” later in his career or may not have followed his career much at all, many people also believe he was protected or faced easy opposition. I am one of many who believe he was most definitely one of the best boxers of an era and one of the best of all time.

I will take you back to the beginning of his career to try and prove it.

How Would Joe Calzaghe Do in the Super Six?

Image: How Would Joe Calzaghe Do in the Super Six?By Joseph Hirsch: Joe Calzaghe is probably the most controversial champion of the last twenty-five years. Many regard him as one of the most overprotected European fighters in history, with the possible exception of Sven Ottke, a man with an ineffectual pitter-pat style of punching who favored picking on old men like Bernard Hopkins or Roy Jones Jr., rather than challenging himself against young lions like Carl “the Cobra” Froch or Kelly “the Ghost,” Pavlik.

Calzaghe, 38, has been out of action for two years since retiring after beating Roy Jones Jr. in 2008.
