Abraham Counting on Defeating Taylor, and Winning Super Six Tourney

abraham434554By Jason Kim: Former IBF middleweight champion (30-0, 24 KO’s) is looking forward to getting started in Showtime’s Super Six tournament which begins on October 17th. Abraham, 29, will be facing former middleweight champion Jermain Taylor on October 17th, in the group I portion of the competition. Abraham, like Taylor, has moved up to the super middleweight division out of necessity because of the burden it had become to make the 160 pound weight limit of the middleweight division.

Abraham-Taylor: Does Jermain Win This?

By Jim Dower: I’m still wondering why former WBC/WBO middleweight champion Jermain Taylor (28-3-1, 17 KO’s) was invited to Showtime’s Super Six tournament instead of fighters like Allan Green and Sakio Bika. It seems as if Taylor is partially being rewarded by his popularity and from things that he did as a fighter in the past rather than in recent times. It could be that Taylor is being given a second chance.

What Chance Do Americans Dirrell, Taylor And Ward Have In The Super Six?

ward43434By Tom Stokes: Talk of the fighter least likely to succeed in the super middleweight super six tournament usually ends up with Carl Froch (25-0, 19 KO’s), the WBC champion who’s considered slow and less skilled than his competition, but what about Dirrell, Ward and Taylor, in my opinion these guys are the weakest link in the competition, and come October these three fighters and the American fans, are going to be in for a shock when they find out what they’ve got themselves into.

Abraham vs. Taylor: Does Jermain Have Enough Left to Win?

taylor234234By Sean McDaniel: Former WBC/WBO middleweight champion Jermain Taylor (28-3-1. 17 KO’s) has been given a very tough match up in his first bout of the Super Six super middleweight group I competition in facing former International Boxing Federation middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (30-0, 24 KO’s) in Germany. Taylor, 30, is coming off of a 12th round knockout defeat to WBC super middleweight title holder Carl Froch on April 25th of this year, and it’s not good timing that Taylor is going to be facing another big knockout puncher in the form of 29-year-old Abraham in his first fight of the tourney.

Will the Losers of the Six-Man Super Middleweight Tourney be Ruined as fighters?

tourney23Pictures courtesy of Winfried Mausolf / Sauerland Event – By Scott Gilfoid: Recently in an article at Vindy.com, WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik remarked that the six super middleweight fighters – Arthur Abraham, Jermain Taylor, Andre Ward, Andre Dirrell, Mikkel Kessler and Carl Froch – would “Ruin their careers for peanuts” by taking part in the tournament that begins later on this year in October. My immediate thoughts were that Pavlik sounded hurt and disappointed that he hadn’t been asked to participate in the tournament and was making a snap remark by devaluing something that he might actually want.

Can Jermain Taylor Still be a Force in Boxing?

By Dave Lahr: After suffering a 12th round TKO to WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch on April 25th, Jermain Taylor (28-3-1, 17 KOs) is looking at boxing career that is seriously in a tailspin, and it’s unclear whether Taylor can get it back to where it was two years ago. In losing to Froch, Taylor was beaten for the third time in his last four fights. Whatever excuses that Taylor had before, they’re not going to work now because his career is looking in bad shape.

Miranda Interested in Fighting Froch

miranda35353535By Dave Lahr: Well, you can add Edison Miranda (32-3, 28 KOs) to the long list of fighters that are interested in fighting WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch. Miranda is so interested, in fact, that he’s invited Froch to come watch his fight with Andre Ward next month on May 16th at the Oracle Arena, in Oakland, California.
