Roy Jones Jr. Planning on Fighting Either Lacy or Johnson, and then Moving Up To Heavyweight

jones454557By Dave Lahr: In an interview with Boxing Talk, former middleweight and light heavyweight champion Roy Jones Jr. (53-5, 39 KOs) is looking at either a fight with former super middleweight champion Jeff Lacy or a rematch with Glen Johnson, and then immediately after that Jones will be moving back up to the heavyweight division where he previously held a title in 2003 with a 12-round unanimous decision over John Ruiz.

lacy429By Eric Thomas: The latest big news gossip item is that Roy Jones Jr. (53-5, 39 KOs) could very well be fighting super middleweight contender Jeff Lacy (24-2, 17 KOs) in June. In an interview at Boxingtalk’s website, Jones, 40, said “He’s [Jeff Lacy] a good fighter and a strong puncher and that’s why he wants to fight me because he’s a puncher.” Lacy, 31, later said that he’s also interested in a fight with Jones. However, before that can happen, Lacy has an April 10th match-up with Otis Griffin in Tampa, Florida.
