Jamie Cox defeats Obodai Sai: Time to end hometown judging nonsense

By Dan Risk: On Friday 9th September 2011, I sat down to watch and interesting light-middleweight encounter between English prospect Jamie Cox (15-0, 9 KO’s) and unbeaten Commonwealth champion Obodai Sai (15-0, 10 KO’s). There is always a sense of excitement when an unknown fighter like Sai comes out of his native country, in this case Ghana, and there is very little known about him.

DeGale, 24, was putting everything he had in his shots as he bum rushed Barr in the opening round, pelting him with shots and looking for a quick knockout. Barr mostly covered up and did little.

Cox Stops Lloyd, McDermott Defeats Ambler

To start with, I don’t think Cox is nearly ready to fight Kell Brook. Cox, 22, struggled badly with the 33-year-old Lloyd, getting cut on the side of his right eye, receiving a bloody nose and lip for his efforts.

cox45244By Jim Dower: Undefeated welterweight prospect Jamie Cox (10-0, 6 KOs) destroyed his hopelessly over-matched journeyman opponent Jason Rushton (18-9, 3 KOs) tonight, taking him out in the 1st round of a scheduled 8-round bout at the Oasis Leisure Centre, Swindon, in Wiltshire. Cox, 22, a former 2006 ABA Light welterweight champion and Gold medalist for England in the 2006 Commonwealth Games, trapped Rushton against the ropes late in the 1st and dropped him with a hard right hand to the head.
