Richard Schaefer, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, wants this in house Golden Boy fight between Alvarez and Kirkland despite their being arguably much better fights out there for the 21-year-old Alvarez.

Kirkland had surgery on Monday to repair two small tears in his right shoulder from his questionable 10 round disqualification win over Carlos Molina on March 24th at the Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas. The surgery was performed in San Antonio, Texas.

The surgery will be taking place in San Antonio, Texas. Kirkland injured his right shoulder somehow in the Molina bout and has been experiencing pain ever since the fight ended.

Chavez’s trainer Freddie Roach said that those two names were mentioned to him by Chavez Jr’s people for his June fight.

Molina was winning the fight at the time on two of the cards.
