Humberto Soto robbed in loss to Antonio Orozco

OrozcoSosa_Hoganphotos(Photo credit: Tom Hogan/Golden Boy Promotions) By Dan Ambrose: In a horrible robbery last Saturday night, former WBC lightweight champion Humberto Soto (65-9-2, 35 KOs) found himself on the receiving end of a good old fashioned controversial 10 round unanimous decision loss to a powerful but very, very limited Antonio Orozco (23-0, 15 KOs) at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Soto, 35, did a great job of exposing Orozco in that fight as a limited fighter. Orozco may have won the fight, but he lost the battle, as he was exposed and many of the boxing fans at home and at the Stubhub didn’t agree with the decision the judges handed down.

Humberto Soto suffers knee injury, June 27th fight is off

soto423464By Dan Ambrose: 35-year-old former two division world champion Humberto Soto (65-8-2, 35 KOs) won’t be fighting on June 27th. He was scheduled to face replacement opponent Jose Felix Jr., but on Tuesday, Soto reportedly suffered a knee injury, causing him to pull out of the fight.

Soto, #7 IBF, #7 WBC, was previously scheduled to face Frankie Gavin and Raymundo Beltran, but both of those fights went down the drain due to various reasons. Soto’s fight against Felix Jr. was an effort to salvage a bad situation, but now even that fight isn’t going to take place.

Humberto Soto vs. Ray Beltran on Bradley-Vargas card on June 27th

beltran1By Dan Ambrose: The Tim Bradley vs. Jessie Vargas fight card just got a lot better with the addition of a light welterweight clash between Raymundo Beltran )30-7-1, 18 KOs) and former two division world champion Humberto Soto (65-8-2, 35 KOs) on June 27th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Soto-Beltran fight will be the co-feature bout on the Bradley vs. Vargas card, and it might very well out-shine the main event. Braley-Vargas could turn out to be a dull tactical fight with a lot of jabbing, moving and clinching. That’s how Vargas likes to fight, and it’s sometimes mind numbingly boring to watch.
