Image: Quillin defeats N'Dam, captures WBO 160 lb titleBy Jim Dower: American Peter Quillin (28-0, 20 KO’s) defeated WBO middleweight champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (27-1, 17 KOs) by an exciting 12 round unanimous decision on Saturday night to capture N’Dam’s World Boxing Organization 160 pound title at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Quillin knocked N’Dam down six times in the fight, 2 times in the 4th, 2 times in the 6th and 2 times in the 12th to seal the victory. The final judges scores were 115-107, 115-107 and 115-107.

N’Dam fought well when he wasn’t getting knocked down and was actually outworking Quillin almost every round. Where N’Dam had a problem was that he didn’t have the power to hurt Quillin, otherwise this might have been a much different fight.

Image: Quillin-N'Dam & Malignaggi-Cano on Garcia vs. Morales II undercard on Saturday(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Jason Kim: Unbeaten middleweight contender Peter Quillin (27-0, 20 KO’s) will be facing WBO middleweight champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (27-0, 17 KO’s) and WBA World welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi 31-4, 7 KO’s) will be defending his title against #10 WBA Pablo Cesar Cano (25-1-1, 19 KO’s) on the Erik Morales vs. Danny Garcia II fight card on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The fight will be televised by Showtime in the United States.

This will be a good chance to see what the 29-year-old Quillin is all about because he’s been matched pretty carefully most of his seven year pro career and hasn’t faced anyone that you could really call a good fighter. He’s good power, but he’s been matched with care, keeping him away from the biggest threats in the division.

Peter Quillin talks ahead of world title fight against Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam

Image: Peter Quillin talks ahead of world title fight against Hassan N’Dam N’JikamBy Ian Aldous: On October 20th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Peter ‘Kid Chocolate’ Quillin (27-0) challenges Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (27-0) for the WBO world middleweight championship as two undefeated fighters with the same amount of professional wins look to steal the show headlined by the huge Danny Garcia Vs. Erik Morales unified world light-welterweight title rematch. This week Peter took some time to talk with me ahead of his career-defining title fight.

If there is one word you can use to describe Peter Quillin, the fighter, it would probably be ‘dedicated’. An unbeaten seven-year career has now finally seen him gain the recognition he deserves. “Nothing was ever handed to me. This is something that all my hard work has got me. All the wins that I got, all the people that they put in front of me, I never denied a fight, I’m the guy that always said yes.” He continued, “This is a business, this is how I earn my living. I’ll tell you right now, seven years of my life has been dedicated to boxing, it’s just now paying off and I’m actually making money that was well deserved for the hard work that I put in.”

Malignaggi-Cano, N’Jikam-Quillin, Alexander-Bailey on October 20th

By Sean McDaniel: WBA World welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (41-4, 7 KO’s) must be feeling a little of pressure as he goes into his fight next month against the young 22-year-old Pablo Cesar Cano (25-1-1, 19 KO’s) at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York. It’s a fight where Golden Boy Promotions has put the 31-year-old Malignaggi in a good position for success by selecting a light welterweight contender for him to fight instead of one of the dangerous welterweight contenders that are looking to fight Malignaggi to get a chance to take his title.
