David Lemieux will fight N’Dam for the IBF vacant belt

lemieux2323By Frank Boileau: After Felix Sturm and Billy Joe Saunders both declined to fight N’Dam for the vacant IBF belt, David Lemieux announced earlier today that he’s gonna take the fight.

Lemieux (33-2, 31 KO) won his last 8 fights after losing twice in 2011 Joachim to Alcine and Marco Antonio Rubio. N’Dam N’jikam (31-1, 18 KO) became the International Boxing ederation number 1 contender when he beat Curtis Stevens last October. His only defeat was an unanimous decision against Peter Quillin, after he went down 6 times.

Camille Estephan, Eye Of The Tigre Promotion president told RDS (French Canadian sports media) that he was trying to get Lemieux to fight either Canelo Alvarez, Miguel Cotto or Gennady Golovkin. Since he couldn’t make any of these fight happen for the moment, the opportunity to fight for the IBF vacant belt was too good to pass.

Lemieux to fight N’Dam for vacant IBF 160lb title

lemieux787887By Dan Ambrose: #5 IBF David Lemieux (33-2, 31 KOs) has reportedly agreed to fight #1 IBF Hassan N’Dam (33-1, 18 KOs) for the vacant IBF middleweight title, according to lapresse.ca.

Lemieux’s decision to face N’Dam for the IBF title comes after both Billy Joe Saunders and Felix Sturm both turned the fight down for various reasons. Sturm decided he didn’t want to fight N’Dam due to a better paying bout against WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham of Germany being out there for him on the horizon.

IBF desperate for someone to fight for their title

lemieux1By Gav Duthie: The IBF have a bit of egg on their face as they frantically continue the search for an opponent to fight for their version of the middleweight title recently stripped from Jermaine Taylor. Cameroonian fighter Hassan N’Dam 31-1 (18) has already been confirmed as one half of the fight but nobody else seems to want to face him.

Felix Sturm had already turned it down before Brit Billy Joe Saunders did the same the other night. Who are the other contenders?

Sturm turns down N’Dam fight, Soliman could be next

sturm462435By Scott Gilfoid: Former IBF/WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm has reportedly turned down a clash with #1 IBF Hassan N’Dam for the vacant IBF middleweight title, according to Fightnews. Instead of Sturm fighting N’Dam for Jermain Taylor’s former IBF title, Sturm will be moving up in weight to the 168 pound division to try and get an all-German fight against WBO 168 pound champion Arthur Abraham.

That fight makes sense because Abraham has already had three fights in a short period of time against popular German fighter Robert Stieglitz, and if he can get a fight against Sturm, then Abraham can another German fighter to face.

Jermain Taylor stripped of IBF title, Sturm and N’Dam ordered to fight for vacant belt

taylor775By Dan Ambrose: Jermain Taylor was stripped of his IBF middleweight title earlier today, according to Dan Rafael. Taylor is dealing with a whole host of legal problems that could keep him out of the ring possibly for good. He was supposed to face Sergio Mora in his first title defense, but that obviously isn’t going to happen now. Mora is fighting tonight against Abe Han.

With Taylor now stripped of his IBF title, the International Boxing Federation has now ordered #1 Hassan N’Dam (31-1, 18 KOs) to fight #3 IBF Felix Sturm (39-4-3, 18 KOs) for the vacant IBF title.

Weights: N’Dam 158.8, Stevens 158.2

stevens6By Allan Fox: Former WBO middleweight champion Hassan N’Dam (30-1, 18 KOs) weighed in at 158.8 pounds for his fight on Wednesday night against #3 WBC, #6 IBF, #6 WBO, #14 WBA Curtis Stevens (27-4, 20 KOs) for their scheduled 12 round fight at the Barker Hangar, in Santa Monica, California, USA.

Stevens, 29, weighed in at 158.2 pounds. The Stevens vs. N’Dam fight will be televised on ESPN2 at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT.

#7 IBF, #14 WBC, #15 WBA N’Dam is badly in need of a big win over Stevens to get himself pushed up the rankings because he’s still too far down in the rankings to get a title shot. N’Dam, 30, lost his WBO middleweight title in getting beaten by a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision to Peter Quillin two years ago in October of 2012 in a fight in which N’Dam was knocked down six times by Quillin.

De La Hoya wants Golovkin to fight N’Dam to test how good he is

ndam324By Dan Ambrose: Oscar De La Hoya wants WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24 KO’s) to be tested against former WBO middleweight champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (27-1, 17 KO’s) for some reason.

De La Hoya doesn’t say why he wants Golovkin to face N’Dam. He just threw out there without giving an explanation, such as saying he wants to match Golovkin vs. Golden Boy fighter Peter Quillin.

De La Hoya said on his social media site “I wanna see Golovkin vs. Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam and then I’ll see if he’s good or not.”

Schaefer considering a Quillin vs. N’Dam rematch

Image: Schaefer considering a Quillin vs. N'Dam rematchBy Allan Fox: Richard Schaefer, the promoter for newly crowned WBO middleweight champion Peter Quillin (28-0, 20 KO’s), is reportedly considering a rematch between Quillin and former WBO champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (27-1, 17 KO’s) after Quillin defeated the 28-year-old N’Dam in an exciting 12 round unanimous decision fight last Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

N’Dam said he had a rematch clause signed for the fight. However, what hurts him in this case is that the World Boxing Organization doesn’t let their fighters give immediate rematches, so this could get in the way of N’Dam getting a badly wanted rematch.
