By Dan Ambrose: Trainer Abel Sanchez predicts that IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) will be running from IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) this Saturday night once he gets caught for the first time with a huge punch. Sanchez notes that Lemieux has talked a lot about what he’s going to do in the ring, and how he’s going to be fighting aggressively in looking to score a knockout.
By Tim Fletcher: Boxing fans are going to be asked to open their wallets this Saturday night and dig deep to come up with the $49.99 to watch the middleweight contest between IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) and IBF belt holder David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) on HBO pay-per-view. I’m just saying.
Yes, there are a lot of fans willing to pay to see the Golovkin-Lemieux fight, but I think there are going to be a lot of them rebelling at the idea of paying to see fighters that they’ve previously seen for free on HBO. When you get free samples of a product, you’re not exactly excited when you suddenly have to pay to get more of that same product.
By Tim Fletcher: IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) thanked UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey for her support today on his social media site. Rousey, who has considered by many to be the best women’s athlete in the world right now, has been real supportive of Golovkin in the lead up to his unification fight this Saturday night on HBO PPV against IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Golovkin and Rousey got to know acquainted during the 2015 ESPYs last July. She sees Golovkin as a really good person who carries himself well, and represents the sport of boxing in a professional manner unlike some other stars that tarnish the sport.

Lemieux has worked hard on not just his conditioning but in strategy sessions with his trainer Mark Ramsey. Lemieux has what he feels is a great strategy to beat the 33-year-old Golovkin, and he’s got the kind of punching power that could give the Kazakhstan fighter nightmares.

During last Saturday’s Max Kellerman Face Off episode with IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs), Golovkin revealed his sadistic side when he spoke about the punishment he inflicted upon Curtis Stevens in their fight in November 2013.
According to Kellerman, Stevens had been doing a lot of talking in the build up to the Golovkin-Stevens fight, and Golovkin didn’t like it much. So instead of talking trash back to Stevens, Golovkin opted instead to punish him in the ring by giving the American fighter a methodical beating that lasted until Stevens’ corner opted to stop the fight after the 8th round.
By Dan Ambrose: With now less than a week to go before the October 17th fight between IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) and IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs), it’s readily apparent that the 26-year-old Lemieux is very, very confident going into their fight on HBO PPV.
During the Face off with Max Kellerman last night, Lemieux spoke like someone who had sized Golovkin up and already feels that he’s going to be the 33-year-old Kazakhstan fighter. Lemieux recently said he saw weakness in Golovkin when the two of them stood face to face.

Still, despite salivating like an Alsatian over a Sirloin at the prospect of Gennady Golovkin vs David Lemieux, I haven’t been compelled to put pen to paper. Why? Because the vast majority of the boxing world think the result is a forgone conclusion: yet another knockout victory for GGG.

Lemieux says that you can’t underestimate people in the sport of boxing, and he obviously has been underestimated by a great number of fans, people in the media, and fighters. Many fans still remember how bad Lemieux looked in his losses to Marco Antonio Rubio and Joachim Alcine from 2011, and that’s one of the reasons why they’re not giving him too much of a chance to score an upset in a little over a week from now. Without those defeats, the Golovkin-Lemieux fight would be truly a 50-50 affair.

By Dan Ambrose: Gabriel Rosado knows more anyone how difficult it is to fight IBO/WBA middleweight champion Genndy “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) after losing to him by a 7th round stoppage two years ago in 2013. Rosado changed his fighting style to become more of a boxer in hopes that it would work to keep Golovkin from being able to blast him out quickly.
It did work in part for Rosado because he was able to make it to the 7th round by running from Golovkin, but it didn’t help him get the victory. After having learned a valuable lesson the hard way, Rosado thinks that IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) is going to need to come out fast and start throwing bombs immediately in his fight with Golovkin on October 17th at Madison Square Garden.
