Cotto doesn’t care if Mayweather Fights Pacquiao after he Beats Manny – News

By Manuel Perez: World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Miguel Cotto made it clear that he doesn’t care one bit if Floyd Mayweather decides to fight Manny Pacquiao instead of him after he [Cotto] gets through beating Pacquiao next month. “If Team Mayweather and Team Pacquiao want to fight, I don’t give a crap what they do after I defeat Manny,” Cotto said in an interview with El Nuevodia.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Paquiao In The Making

pac4348By Sander Rennarb Aznarrac Jr. When Pound for Pound King Floyd Mayweather retired from boxing in 2007, an anticipated big fight with then unbeaten WBO titlist Miguel Cotto did not materialize. His successive wins against Oscar dela Hoya and Ricky Hatton may have warranted him a break from boxing that earned him fame and fortune. Some doubted his retirement as a decent way to dodge speculated challenge from formidable welterweights in Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, and Shane Mosley as front runners.

Would Mayweather Jr. Fight in a Welterweight Tournament?

mayweather453327By Chris Williams: I wonder if Floyd Mayweather Jr. would stay in boxing for long if he had to fight the best welterweights in a tournament similar to Showtime’s Super Six tourney instead of being able to pick and choose fighters from the lower weight classes to cherry pick from. How would Mayweather hold up if he were to fight in a welterweight tournament and had to face the following fighters in order: Paul Williams, Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, Andre Berto, Antonio Margarito and Kermit Cintron.

Will Mayweather Jr. Cherry Pick for the Remainder of his career?

mayweather45623849By Chris Williams: Have we seen the last of Floyd Mayweather Jr. fighting within one division, fighting for the welterweight crown and taking on all comers? It seems to me that Mayweather’s days of fighting opponents from his own weight class are here and gone. That’s something that I really find disappointing about Mayweather. I hope I’m wrong about him, but I have a feeling that Mayweather is going to stick to fighting smaller fighters for what’s left of his career.

The Weight Debate

pacquiao453434By Craig Martin: It’s the word that plays on every boxing fan’s mind now. So much has been said recently I figured I’d throw in my two cents. Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Miguel Cotto, Juan Manuel Marquez are just a few of the names that apply to this issue. Floyd has received a lot of criticism for fighting the smaller man but mustn’t forget that Mayweather himself has risen through the weight divisions himself to win titles.

The Mayweather Myth

mayweather445648By Jordan Stoddart: I thought I would write regarding the current and topical (and maybe frustrating issue to some) subject of Floyd Mayweather’s apparent refusal to fight Shane Mosley, and his (assumed) desire to fight the winner of Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao. I want to cover a few points, as there are a few angles being missed by forum users and the general public. Whether that be plain ignorance or prejudice or whether it is just a way of stirring up ‘pre-mega-fight hype’; you cannot tell. All I know is, Floyd V Pac is the right decision for the Boxing fan, causal or purist.

Is Mayweather running scared of Mosley?

mayweather453245By Chris Williams: If it’s already not obvious to all, Floyd Mayweather Jr. seems entirely disinterested in fighting Shane Mosley right now – and possibly forever – if one were to read the tea leaves from Mayweather’s comments made about Mosley, in which Mayweather said “I wish him [Mosley] nothing but the best in his career.”

Floyd Is Money…Again

mayweather45238By Kevin Pasquale: You can laugh at the incomprehensible utterances by his Uncle Roger, with everything he slurs including “F Bombs” every other word, and his brilliant advice in the corner between rounds, such as “You got this Motha Fu*** hurt, he’s lookin’ to get knocked out”; you can laugh at his father, who will turn 57 in a couple weeks, and has become a cartoon himself, dropping pre-meditated rap-lyrics for no apparent reason, always referring to himself as the best of all time. At what? And, then there’s his relationship with his son, that, until recently, was almost comically, and disturbingly, dysfunctional, but there’s one man you can’t laugh at. The middle of this triangle, the man they once called “Pretty Boy”, and the man now known as “Money”.

Does Mayweather deserve to be held in higher regard?

mayweather343243By Richard Everett: Much like maligned yet talented sporting counterparts before him, Floyd Mayweather is constantly faced with a barrage of criticism or goading even in the immediate aftermath of a seemingly flawless performance against Juan Manuel Marquez. His most ardent of critics seem to have at their disposal a portfolio of grievances so deep and vociferous it makes George Bush’s indiscretions seem like mere ‘administrative errors’.

Vitali Klitschko throws more punches than Mayweather

klits35By Chris Williams: Through no great surprise, World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (38-2, 37 KO’s) ended up throwing more punches – 802 – in his 10th round stoppage of previously unbeaten Chris Arreola last Saturday night compared to Floyd Mayweather’s 493 for his 12 round unanimous decision win over Juan Manuel Marquez on September 19th.
