Berto: This is going to be a fairytale ending for me against Mayweather

Andre BertoBy Dan Ambrose: Former IBF/WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KOs) is poised to rewrite the history books on September 12th, when he turns his career completely around in the process of handing unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) his first loss of his career when he gets him inside the squared circle in their fight on Showtime pay-per-view at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Berto says he’s familiar with Mayweather’s fighting style after seeing his fights for years now, and he thinks he’s going to cause a huge upset by beating the 38-year-old. It’s certainly in Berto’s best interest to do his utmost to defeat Mayweather, because that gives Berto his best chance of getting a second big money rematch.

Mayweather Sr: My son don’t need to whoop Golovkin

golovkin994By Dan Ambrose:
Trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. doesn’t want to see his son superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) fight IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) because he thinks he’d beat him and possibly knock him out in the process if he hit the Kazakhstan star just right. Floyd Sr. thinks Golovkin needs to chill out and forget about wanting to fight his son Mayweather Jr. because it’s a fight he would probably lose.

“My son don’t need to whoop him [Golovkin] up. Tell him to go take a chill pill,” Floyd Sr. said to Fighthype. “If Floyd hit him with one of them and hit him right.”

Hagler doesn’t think Mayweather winning 50 fights would be as impressive as a heavyweight doing it

Floyd MayweatherBy Dan Ambrose: Former middleweight world champion Marvin Hagler doesn’t think WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) would be accomplishing as much in winning his 50th fight than it would be for a heavyweight going 50-0. Mayweather is looking to tie former heavyweight world champion Rocky Marciano’s record of 49-0, which he set in 1956.

The record has since been broken twice by non-heavyweights in Julio Cesar Chavez and Ricardo Lopez. Mayweather has said that he doesn’t plan on sticking around for another fight after he ties the 49-0 mark by Marciano.

Thurman thinks Mayweather used Errol Spence to get him off his back

thurman333By Dan Ambrose: WBA “regular” welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (26-0, 22 KOs) still believes WBA/WBC 147lb champion Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) put unbeaten hard hitting #8 WBA contender Errol Spence Jr. (17-0, 14 KOs) on him to get him to back off from badgering him to try and get a fight.

Despite Spence saying himself that he wants the Thurman fight because he sees him as a flawed fighter that he can beat, Thurman doesn’t believe that Spence is sincere about wanting to fight him. He thinks that the only reason why Spence is saying he wants to fight him is because his “Uncle Mayweather” put him up to it.

Porter: Berto isn’t what he was a few years ago; Mayweather wins

Andre BertoBy Dan Ambrose: Former IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter doesn’t think that former IBF/WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KOs) is the same fighter that he once was years ago, and for that reason Porter believes that Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) will defeat him in their fight in a little over a month from now on September 12th on Showtime pay-per-view from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Berto is a tremendous underdog with the odds-makers, with many of them seeing Mayweather as a 40:1 favorite in the fight. That doesn’t mean that Berto has no chance of winning, because he still has good punching power and hand speed. But the fact that he’s lost 3 out of his last 6 fights is hard to ignore when predicting the outcome in his clash with Mayweather.

Mayweather could continue his career past Berto fight, says Martirosyan

Floyd MayweatherBy Dan Ambrose: Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) has done a good job of convincing people that his September 12th fight against Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KOs) will be the last fight of his career when he gets inside the ring at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, junior middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan doesn’t believe for a second that Mayweather will be walking away from the sport.

Vanes thinks Mayweather will be coming back to try and capture his 50th win of his career. After all, why would he retire at 49-0, when he could come back for one more fight to finish his career with a perfect 50-0 record.

Mayweather: There was so much hype about Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather and Andre BertoBy Chris Williams: Floyd Mayweather Jr. said that the media had built up so much hype about Filipino superstar over the years, and all he did was expose the hype when he got inside the ring and beat Pacquiao by a fairly one-sided 12 round unanimous decision on May 2nd of this year in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather didn’t say whether he was expecting more from Pacquiao after hearing all the stuff about him from the media over the years, but I believe that’s the case. Mayweather came into the fight expecting one thing and ended up seeing a much less impressive fighter than what he’s been expecting.

Mayweather: I beat all the big names – Canelo, Pacquiao and Cotto, so there’s no one else to fight

Image: Mayweather: I beat all the big names – Canelo, Pacquiao and Cotto, so there’s no one else to fight(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Chris Williams: Superstar extraordinaire Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) feels that he’s already beaten all the top names in boxing at this point in his 19-year pro career, and he doesn’t feel like there’s anyone else for him to fight at this point in his career. Mayweather has beaten the big three – Manny Pacquiao, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Miguel Cotto – and Mayweather sees them as being the top fighters in the 147 and 154lb divisions.

As far as Mayweather is concerned, he’s cleaned out both divisions and there’s no one else worthy for him to fight. While some boxing fans might say that Amir Khan, Kell Brook, Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia, and Keith Thurman deserve a shot at Mayweather, you can’t look at any of their recent fights and say that they all deserve a fight against Mayweather.
