By Sean McDaniel: The title fight between WBA Super World middleweight champion Felix Sturm (35-2-1, 15 KO’s) and challenger Matthew Macklin (28-2, 19 KO’s) has been moved to June 25th in order to avoid competing with the mega fight between IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and WBA champion David Haye on July 2nd. It wouldn’t be competition. The Stum-Macklin fight is only mildly interesting, as Sturm has picked yet another unproven contender to fight instead of someone dangerous like Gennady Golvokin. The Stum vs. Macklin fight will be taking place at the Lanxess-Arena, Cologne, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.

Sturm wants unification bout with Zbik
By Jason Kim: WBA Super World middleweight champion Felix Sturm (35-2-1, 15 KO’s) is looking to get a unfication bout against WBC middleweight champion Sebastian Zbik (30-0, 10 KO’s) for his next fight. This would be an all German fight, as both Zbik and Sturm fight out of Germany. However, Zbik, 28, is considered a paper champion by many boxing fans because of the way that Zbik was given the WBC title after the World Boxing Council stripped WBA champion Sergio Martinez, gave him the title as Emeritus champion, and then handed the title to Zbik without a fight.

Sturm vs. Hearns: Felix needs to step it up at some point in his career
By Michael Lieberman: WBA Super World middleweight champion Felix Sturm (34-2-1, 14 KO’s) has been a champion off and on since 2006, but has done precious little over the years in facing high level fighters. Sturm, 32, has gotten a reputation for milking his title against the easiest opponents possible in order to prolong his time as a champion. It may have worked, but has cost him by keeping him an almost unknown champion.
Sturm vs. Hearns on 2/19
By Dan Ambrose: WBA Super middleweight champion Felix Sturm (24-2-1, 14 KO’s) is continuing with his habit of taking on weak opposition for his non-mandatory title defenses when he takes on 2nd tier middleweight Ronald Hearns (26-1, 20 KO’s) on February 19th at the Porsche Arena, in Stuttguart, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. This is yet another disappointing opponent for the 31-year-old Sturm, who seems as if he’s devoted his career to milking his WBA title for all it’s worth.
