Wilder: I’m going to put Stiverne’s whole team out of commission

Deontay Wilder(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Scott Gilfoid: Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) expects not only to soundly beat WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) this Saturday night in their title fight, but also put many of his team members out of work at the same time with the victory at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Deontay wants to beat 6’2” Stiverne in such a convincing manner that his team members will be out of work.

“I am super-confident and I can’t wait. Someone is going to lose their job. I am going to put his whole team out of commission. That’s my promise,” Deontay said.

That would be interesting if Stiverne either cleaned out his team after a knockout loss to Deontay, or his team members abandoned ship after he lost his title, leaving one by one.

Stiverne vs. Wilder: The future of the heavyweight division starts here!

Deontay Wilder(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By John Stevens: As an obsessive boxing fan and participant for the last 40+ years I wanted to write in and say some words regarding this very important and interesting fight. Thus – I wanted to present a clear and open synopsis, looking at both men individually and seeing exactly where we are in this very intriguing contest which to me looks like an explosion waiting to happen!

The shadow of the great Wladimir Klitschko hangs over this of course, as he is the man to beat for the victor of this fight (But that is another story!) – However, Wladimir must surely be looking to wind down within the next few years after a long and pretty incredible career, thus leaving the door open for one of the two guys in this contest to take over his crown, not to mention a pretty long line of tasty heavyweights coming up through the ranks right now who are looking to stake their claim too. Exciting times ahead for sure; but I digress – lets look now at the two protagonists in this battle and see what we’ve got……

Foreman: Deontay Wilder will KO Stiverne in 3 or 4 rounds if he fights aggressively

deontay1By Scott Gilfoid: Boxing great George Foreman sees this Saturday’s fight between WBC heavyweight belt holder Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) and American talent Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) as a bout that the 6’7” Deontay can easily win if he comes out on fire and uses his power, speed, size and aggressiveness to take the fight to the 36-year-old Stiverne.

Deontay has the size advantage, as well as the speed, youth and power advantage going for him. Foreman doesn’t think that Deontay should play it safe with Stiverne, because he feels this could lead to a fight where Stiverne gets opportunities to land his own big shots rather than it being a one-sided affair with Deontay getting rid of the smaller, aging champion as quick as possible.

Tony Weeks to referee Stiverne vs. Wilder fight

wilder555555By Scott Gilfoid: Tony Weeks will be the referee for this Saturday’s title fight between WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) and Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs), according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. Weeks has never worked one of Deontay’s fights before, but it’s not important because referees are mainly used for counting out Deontay’s opposition rather than playing any huge part in the fight.

The judges for the Stiverne-Wilder fight are as follows: Adalaide Byrd and Jerry Roth, both of Nevada, and Craig Metcalfe of Canada. The judges will likely be equally unimportant in this fight because this is a match-up that is heading for a knockout either way. One of these guys going to get knocked out in this fight.

Stiverne, 36, is hinting that he won’t be pulling back against the ropes in this fight like he always does in his past fights. Stiverne is giving the impression that he’s going to stay off the ropes and fight in a much different way than he has in the past.

Deontay Wilder: Stiverne won’t get close enough to land a punch

deontay533By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight sensation Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) has heard a lot about how his opponent this Saturday WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) will be looking to counter him with left hooks and right hands each time Deontay comes within punching distance in their Showtime televised fight, and Deontay doesn’t see how the 36-year-old Stiverne will be able to connect with his shorter punches.

Deontay doesn’t plan on letting Stiverne get close enough to connect on any of his power shots in this fight because he’s going to keep him at arm’s length by fighting smart.
