By Jason Kim: Former IBF/WBA/WBC light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver (28-6, 19 KO’s) is prepared for a tough fight against International Boxing Organization (IBO) cruiserweight champion Danny Green (31-3, 27 KO’s) on July 20th at the Entertainment Centre, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Tarver, 42, expects a tough fight from Green, but figures to have too much experience and talent for Green to be able to cope with in this fight.

Tarver-Green: Antonio faces his biggest puncher in years
By Jason Kim: 42-year-old former light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver (28-6, 19 Ko’s) takes on a very dangerous Danny Green (31-3, 27 KO’s) on July 20th at the Entertainment Centre, in Sydney, Australia. The fight will be held in the 38-year-old Green’s neck of the woods, and this could go very bad for Tarver. One of the reasons things could end badly for Tarver, besides his advanced age, is that he’s going to have to take off a lot of weight to make the cruiserweight limit.

Green wants the opportunity to face Hopkins, but unfortunately the chances of that is minimal at best.

Why didn’t Danny Green go after Huck, Lebedev or Cunningham instead of Flores?
By Jim Slattengren: While I think Danny Green (30-3, 27 KO’s) is an excellent fighter, I’m not pleased to learn that he’s taking on BJ Flores (24-0-1, 15 KO’s) in his next fight on November 17th, in Sydney, Australia. That’s a step up for Green, no doubt. But that’s not a big enough step for me, especially after watching Green’s last fight against Paul Briggs.

Can the cruiserweight Super Six succeed?
By William Mackay: Promotional company Sauerland Events is interested in putting together a cruiserweight Super Six tournament with the similar idea as Showtime’s Super Six tournament for super middleweights. In this case, Sauerland is picking the cruiserweight division, one of the weakest in all of boxing to showcase six lucky fighters. The fighters that have been mentioned for the tournament are as follows: Danny Green, Steve Cunningham, Enzo Maccarinelli, Krsysztof Wlodarczyk, Marco Huck and Yoan Pablo Hernandez. I’m not sure this will work as well as the existing Super Six tournament because there’s only one American involved rather than two. I noticed that there are two German based fighters in Sauerland’s proposed cruiserweight tournament with Huck and Hernandez.

Briggs, 34, was hit with a left hand that grazed the top of Briggs’ head 20 seconds into the fight. Briggs then went down and was unable to beat the count before referee Pat Russell stopped the bout at :29 of the 1st round.
